A Political Thread pt. 2

An absolutely incredible lack of self awareness

Meanwhile her boss has been chummy with ex-KGB and put his son in the lords... The Tory gaslighting is ridiculous. Honestly the level of corruption in British politics now is astonishing. I remember not that long ago pointing out how corrupt it is and having a certain Tory voter laugh at the suggestion...

So... Priti Patel, who has previously been sacked for compromising national security... Not a security risk.
Boris Johnson, who plays tennis with Russian Oligarchs, and evades his security details to party with foreign billionaires... Not a security risk.
Tory party in general, who suck at the teet of Russian money, and suppress reports into Russian interfering with British elections... Not a security risk.

Kier Starmer, barrister, former head of the Crown Prosecution Service... Security risk.

Presumably the risk is that he'll find out they're all on the Kremlin's payroll
Its all a bit weird I thought those in the shadow cabinet in relevant roles got regular briefings into this exact sort of thing so they can be on top their brief but also in a very unlikely event there was a General Election called and they won they could hit the ground running.

Maybe that doesn't happen anymore.

This is what is so frustrating for me. The Tories have enabled Putin up until this point whether it be all the things you mention above or the ERG wing of the party pushing it’s corrupt Brexit agenda that again has Russian money all over it. Aaron Banks is a dodgy **** too.

... there is an attack that decapitates the govt and forces a quick interim government of national unity to be organised.

So Putin wants to reinstall the Ukrainian leader who was overthrown kicking this whole thing off many years ago... Let's remind ourselves why he was overthrown, because he went against his election pledges and decided unilaterally to turn his back on the EU, NATO and west to side with Russia and tear up any agreements he had with the west in favour of Russian ones. Ukraine had been leaning more towards ties with the west than Russia and so Russia heavily interfered in the election, throwing lots of support behind Viktor Yanukovych to ensure he won (spotting a theme?) Now they want to put their puppet back in place, all the while claiming it's actually the west who were interfering. Russia actively started meddling to stop Ukraine forming stronger ties with the west and it backfired. Now Putin seems to have recognised that every step he has tried to take to stop this process has backfired but not recognised that continued escalation will likely continue to have the same results.

First meddling in the election leading to his puppet being overthrown. Then invading Crimea, leading to a massive spike in support for NATO, then supporting separatists which had the same effect. Now he is in full scale invasion and it's pretty much guaranteed that Ukraine will take the first chance it gets to join the EU/NATO after this and any Russian puppet will have a rebellious country on his hands. Viktor Yanukovych couldn't hold it together before when the people of Ukraine were even less opposed to him so he has no chance now, except by using old USSR tactics.

The problem is Putin can't see why all his neighbours (except Belarus) have been moving in opposition to him. His actions have caused exactly what he was trying to stop. Had Russia begun to present itself as a cooperative and productive member of the international community, NATO would have likely faded into obscurity and Russia would be on good terms with all it's neighbours. It's the constant threats and belligerence of Putin that have created these problems.

Lecture over, **** Putin.

My niece who has about £100 to her name made a donation this morning and it inspired me to do the same. No pressure of course. Sharing is caring.
