A Political Thread pt. 2

I'm not sure it matters if the US strikes were a success or not, they flew unchallenged into Iran dropped 6 very distuctive bombs on a possible nuclear facility for no casualties. Now apparently they haven't got many of those specific bombs but in theory they could keep coming back again and again until they did hit something and the Iranian military is at the moment pretty powerless to stop them. Even if the damage wasn't critical it shows Iran it's in a fight with a much bigger dog who for now at least it can't contain.

So in the white house press room, they didn't deny the leaked report existed, they didn't deny it was real, they didn't deny it says what has been claimed, they just claim to disagree with the conclusion.

So let's see, an internal intelligence document marked as top secret says the bombing didn't achieve what it was supposed to and the Trump administration disagrees!? Based on what? They are arguing with their own intelligence agencies. Twice in the space of a week Trump has contradicted his own intelligence reports.

This is lunacy.

I've read that they have/had about 20 or so bombs.

They dropped 14 and it's the first time under combat conditions.

The one thing I can't work out is, and I'm certainly no expert in this, we have seen nice clean holes where the bombs penetrated, but when I did some research into bunker busters I compared photos of WW2 grand slam bombs and could see a great deal more visible damage, cratering etc

This maybe comparing apples and oranges 80 years apart, but I would expect to see more visible damage today than 80 years ago.

Could simply be down to the nuclear facility being designed to minimise any potential explosion escaping?

It appears from a quick read up that grand slams were used against bridges, where they just take out the foundations or sub pens, and apparently against concrete they would explode prematurely so the damage you’re seeing could be down to the bomb not actually doing it’s job properly

What are your favoured sources of information?

Get the need for a separate Nuclear delivery system to the submarine launched missiles but buying both the aircraft and munition from a different country who could or couldn't be friendly when we need to use it is a massive risk.
