A Political Thread pt. 2

I love hip hop and had never heard of them before all this. Though to be fair I don't think they are considered, or consider themselves to be, hip hop artists but I could be totally wrong on that and it's more a case of an old school hip hop head being out of touch with the kids these days
It started with NWA and ended with Goldy looking chain. Everything else is just pants

Don't get me started, West coast is basically pop music! Snoop dogg is basically Britney spears, without the morals.
To be fair, there's a lot of "separating the art from the artist" going on with 90% of rappers. lol.

Like you I prefer east coast (especially production wise) but there's still loads of classic Snoop tracks.

Edit: apologies for Spam

Ye probably should be another thread, but outside of Doggy style (and that released to mixed reviews which i think they got right) he's been over rated, and then just phoned in features for 2 decades.

He's just become too cool to criticise.

Depends on how they interpret making threats and inciting violence or if it fits the definition.

Wouldn't be the first time the Brirish Establishment went for the Irish because they could.

Yeah, if he's convicted I gibe it 90 seconds before kneecap are making comparisons to internment.

It's not worth the trouble in any sense.

This kind of headline is why the BBC is the pits these days. There is no bith sidings or nuance to this. The anti vax movement is complete anti science with zero evidence to things they claim. This isn't a bold claim of mine there is simply no peer reviewed studie outside the original Wakefield report which has been massively discredited.

It's frustrating because despite the content of the article it legitimise views.
Well if you read it it doesn’t really support RFK Jnr. Article posted in US Politics thread.

Nah, if "reporters" want to report on anti vax and the earth being flat and 6000 years old then go for it I suppose. Just the times we live in. My normative claim would be we in an ideal situation we separate opinion from established fact and leave out the "nuance" for things we know to be false.
For me the bigger issue is not what they believe in but why. Yes anti-vax is extremely dangerous, but it's a symptom of a larger issue where too many people completely ignore scientific evidence. It's not like some debates where there is evidence for and against. These are proven facts that people choose to ignore. Also, it's not like it's a few people, the percentage is far too large.

Personally, one of the biggest culprits is the algorithms used by social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The amount of people who end up down rabbit holes is alarming. Another culprit is the education system. There is still far too much emphasis on just regurgitating what you've been taught and not on critical thinking.

I dont think Kneecap have much to worry about tbh, other than maybe the riot comments

Bob Vylan on the other hand i can see being in a spot of bother, along with the BBC
Yeah, I think they've reigned it in. Certainly nothing worse than "kill your local MP".

Not great when Ireland's closest trade partners outside the EU are currently not letting people into the country for having great memes on their phone and the other are threatening to arrest artists for stage performances.

First I ever heard of Bob Vylan was them getting dropped/banned from one of the chillest festivals in the scene for an "incident" backstage with the staff,
Their name took a hit from that, so this washes their image in the scene

Be interesting to see where they go from here, losing their USA visas is a pretty big deal considering they had a sizeable tour lined up - also whether it impacts their existing festival dates over here
Their Spotify numbers will be up but that's not where artists make their money
