I hope he does well. If he does what he says and concentrates on people rather than policies he should do. Too often politicians look at the policy but if he's going to run the Makerfield test, it will make a difference. Changing Vat on energy and increasing the tax allowance will make an immediate difference to the man/woman on the street. Personally I'd like him to look at the 40% allowance but that's probably asking too much

That's why you have the civil service. Burnham may keep some but he can't keep those in areas he wants to change. Imagine Reeves being told to reduce the power of the Treasury

Yeah the real question is more on Foreign Affairs. Disappointed Mahmood will have some kind of job.
I really wanted Mahmood to stay at HO. She's been good for us, at least we don't have ministers bullying staff anymore.
Her policies were not aligned to a center-left governement.

They are aligned to a pragmatic, Blairite government. Immigration is down, boats are fewer. That shuts up the nutters for a bit. Her other policies aren't bad: extending face recognition, age estimation etc. She's not exactly going down the ICE route.

Yeah cant help but feel hed be a stop choice at a later reshuffle. Rumours are things like NATO Secretary General (although a long way off for being free) or something similar could be a role for him.
And this is what I was hoping for: what do the general public think, not does the policy fit. Despite what Farage would have you think immigration isn't the top concern but it's up there.
Give lower earners more money, they'll spend rather than save and the economy does better.
There's a petty bit of me thinks good but the pragmatic me knows we have to try to get on with Trump

As was mentioned on the radio, it's grand having a PM making promises for 10 year plans when the average time in office for a PM now is just a shade over 1 year...

I don't think Farage has ever been anti-managed immigration. My mother arrived in this country from the Commonwealth on a ship in 1957. She spent 30+ years workng in NHS.
What increasingly is causing great issue with a growing majority of the population in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales is mass illegal immigration of unidentified young men from culture that do not share common values with existing taxpaying residents.
The Governments that have allowed and encouraged this policy have a lot to answer to these people. They need to explain their motivations and how this benefits United Kingdom.
