In a moment of reflect, erm, boredom today I wondered how much difference the BPs make to the Premiership. With so few teams seemingly picking them up now (for tries or staying within seven), what would the table look like without them:

Aside from Northampton losing out (Which they don't anyway as it's the silly playoffs in place so finishing top means nothing), is there really any point in the damn things?

I think in the GP there's no real need, as you pointed out they don't really have an effect
In the HEC they do, however, as there's only 6 matches for each team, so the ability to get bonus points helps seperate the teams out to get a clear winner, and help to decide the highest placed runner up

What does surprise me is the sheer number of drawn games there have been. Few years ago a drawn game was a rare occurance, maybe 1 or 2 a season but there have been 11(?) this season.
