Who is Paul O'Connor? My mind gone blank
He's best friends with Bryan Moore, lol
I did a team, all players from the professional era, I'm a bit surprised Habana is ranked so low and Pienaar and De Villiers ranked so high (and at blindside when he played openside), but I suppose whoever came up with those $ values had a list of their own.
Os du Randt ($4) - The best loosehead I've ever seen.
Du Plessis ($2) - Perhaps not the lineout thrower or scrummager as some of the others but IMO the best in open play, like having an extra flanker on the field.
Hayman ($3) - Perhaps the best tighthead I've ever seen, too bad he left NZL in his prime.
Matfield ($3) - Terrific lineout option also had a fantastic work rate in his prime.
Rettalick ($1) - Still young but near his prime and is more destructive in open play than any other lock of the last 30 years
Collins ($3) - destructive runner and devastating tackler is the enforcer of this squad
Smith ($1) - TBH I don't think the difference between him and McCaw is that great, and saving $4 here is clutch
Read ($4) - Like having another player in the backline, athletic, high work rate and can also do the dirty work
Gregan ($3) - Small but tough, smart and with a great delivery.
Carter ($5) - A better kicker and defender than Larkham and better with the ball in hand than Wilko, prime Carter was magnificent
Lomu ($5) - Habana might be the best bargain on here but I couldn't pass on the devastating Lomu
SBW ($1) - Could have been one of the all time greats if he had focused on Union, off-loading to O'Driscoll would have been a thing of beauty
O'Driscoll ($5) - Simply sublime, Gerber and Sella were outstanding but they dominated a different era
Robinson ($1) - Across from Lomu the electric Billy Whizz would be the perfect compliment
Cullen ($4) - just an incredible finisher
