Who is Fastest??

when habana came on the scene he was definitely the fastest in international rugby, he seems to have bulked up a lot in the past year..or is it the humungous pads fooling me?

He's worked alot on upper-body strength this year, so probably has got larger, which may have affected his pace slightly, but not by anything that matters.

Apparently Pierre Spies once ran 100m in about 10.5, although with the muscle hes put on now its raised closer to the 11s mark, still not bad for a 107kg, 1.95m player.

Fastest player would probably go to Habana, an interested Caucau, or one of the two Fijians on the wings for the All Blacks, Rokocoko and Sivivatu.

in rugby world they did an entire story on Caucau, showing pictures of him and saying that he doesnt run around people any more, he goes through as he has really, really bulked up, so he wont be the fastest

I heard on heaps of forums that caucaunibucas put on the beef but does anyone know how much hes weighing in at right now??

Check this out a Bryan Habana intercept try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RJyZVM4NqY [/b]

Anesi was actually closing in on him there. Truth is all the fastest players are roughly the same speed so it really comes down to who is faster at that exact time. Maybe one gets better footing, another its slightly wetter, and what effect does carrying a ball have? I've been watching most super rugby games for years and I've seen all of the speedsters burn and get burned. That Chavanga run is the most memorable burst though. I remember thinking at the time that he made other speedsters look like chumps.

Man, when Caucau was at his fastest would often score tries running at a 3/4 pace! When i saw him score tries like that i thought no one was touching him in the speed department. I don't know how fast he is now though.

from 1 - 5
1. B.Habana
2. T.Chavanga
3. Fhillip Burger
4. J.Rockoko
5. W.Ryder / S.Basson

Hmmmm....its tough call, but Caucau has a definite reputation as the leading speedster, unfortunately he doesn't seem interested in pre season training....Agen are again not too happy.

Bryan Habana or Philip Burger

In International rugby it has to be Habana. But Habana has definitely bulked up recently and is better defensively, so it will be interesting to see if he is still that quick in the the RWC. We haven't seen him play for ages though...

I don't think Ryder is there, Varndell and Tait have outrun him I'm sure in 7s, and I don't mean once.

caucau defintly he was a freak and still is i wish he would just try more

1. Habana
2. Caucau
3. JP "Jet-Propelled" Pietersen

Spies has gots ta be the fastest forward. I think if we put him on the wing he'd be the next Jonah. SA need a creative winger - a la Brent Russell. Desperately.

check out these amazing videos of Rupeni Caucaunibuca showing his speed....this proves that he is the fastest over 25 meters

Hold on a minute people, are you basing Habana speed now compared to caucau? Or when Caucau was in his prime? Because if you think Habana is faster then Caucau in his prime youre on crack.

john Hayes' lightining pace combined with his step make him a real force to be reckond with. i voted habana

I voted Habana.

Track times mean little when it comes to rugby. Aussie winger Brett Stapleton has an official 100m time of 10.27 (which is the fastest of any player i know of) yet, wearing footy boots with a ball under his arm, there's no way he's as fast as Habana.
