John Terry has been announced as the New England Captain...

John Terry has been named as the new captain of the England football team.
The 25-year-old was confirmed on Thursday as the successor to David Beckham, who stepped down as England captain after the World Cup.

Chelsea skipper Terry has won 29 caps since making his debut against Serbia and Montenegro on 3 June 2003.

Terry begins his reign as captain in Steve McClaren's first match in charge of the national team, a friendly against Greece on 16 August. [/b]

Maybe not the better player or better captain, but possibly in the better position!!!

Why is there such a big deal made over the England captain? All it means is that whoever it has the armband has to deal with the media. In football, captain doesn't really mean all that much these days.

I dunno, Liverpoll wouldn't be half the team they are without messer Gerrard leading by example and organising.

Which is why I still say the theeving scouser should have hot the job.

Still, at least it's JT instead of Neville.

Yh i wonted Gerrard 2 be the new captain of England because he is the better player, leads by example and plays better when he is captain as being captain of Liverpool proves.
