Im sorry you can flame me if you want, but to me its not a matter of opinion. The xbox version WIPES THE FLOOR with the ps2 version.

I had both playing on the same tv with just a flick of the remote between the two. Both versions were running and the difference one after the other is considerable.

Xbox smooth as a baby's bottom.
PS2 Much poorer frame rate

The xbox version has a much more zoomed in view as well so you can see the players in better detail. To be honest its amazing how much better the xbox seems to run. Even to the point I feel the AI also seems a little tweaked up. Bounce of the ball seems a smidge better too although maybe thats just me.

I have no interest in any one console over the other, but for the independent if you are in dispute over which version to get, then get the Xbox.

Simple as.

true. i guess its just the the xbox came out a bit later, so microsoft would have bort a ps2 ripped it apart and sed ok upgrade this upgrade that, then jst chucked it into a new x shaped thing and sold it!

I'll respond to that news in three simple words:

Wuub, wuub, wuub.

People should release that Xbox is the superior hardware, it's just that PS2 has the best software.

I've got three words for both of you:

"X and B"

f***ing Chuck Norris!!

I'm not buying a console for 1 game and I'm certainly not using that jacked button layout. I want to master the game not go "Oh it's so pretty....Damn! I pushed pass!"

hehe.

of course the xbox version would have better quality its a grunty console compared to the ps2. i have both a ps2 for my son and a xbox for myself, and the quality of the games is very noticable but you cant go wrong with either console really both machines offter hours of fun and great gameplay. spoilt for choice really when you look at it but the good ol pc still offers me most of my gaming hours.

Well ive got the xbox version and i have to say the A and B is damn awesome.

Right trigger is sprint and i actually prefer it now then having right and left trigger as pass

Xbox version rules!

Yeah.....XBox brings out the BEST in R2005!

Why settle for ancient Elle Macpherson (who?) when young Elisha Cuthbert is on offer? How can you continue playing R2005 with the stuttery graphics on PS2 when the XBox is highlighting the beauty of modern technology?

And if you are still going on about the so called control pad difficulties then you:

1. Weren't around before JLR to play rugby games before shoulder buttons
2. Are unaware that there are flaws in PS2's control config for R2005 which the XBox does not have. See BUY THE XBOX VERSION!, I have played R2005

Oh I was around....lol! Rugby sega mega drive anyone? Amiga aswell...

But tell me this....how do you dummy?

<

start putting your controller on your laps boys....

<

think about it.

and Yes - the xbox has better graphics.

Can someone with a big screen tell me if they are happy with the game? what it's like etc...

cheers. admittedly a little worried - want the best experience...but feel controller evens it. I play all the rugby at, eventually, a breakneck speed and need maximum control including cheats and dummies etc which requires being able to press both easily.

Look I see where people who have both consoles would be coming from.

THATS GOOD 2 HEAR
<

GTA SAN ANDREAS comes out on xbox in a month or 2 with all the glitches fixed up and if PS2 has a game that does really well you can garantee its just a matter of time before it comes out on xbox(minus the gitches)

graphics for this game (rugby 2005) is the only difference.

any "glitches" will be identical.

Games were coded etc at same time - if anything xbox was released first so will have less or the same gameplay.

Let's not get carried away.

good to see Carlos that you are informed

x then b or b then x. You don't have to have your thumb staying down while the alternative pass button is being pressed. Just move it to the next one. the pass doesn't fly until the passing animation is complete so you do have a split second. Also, for more effective dummies it is better to wait. Morfious explains it in.....Definitely dummies!, Unless my eyes decieve me.....

Well Los, chuqea has played it on big screen and talks about it in.....Just got the PS2 Version....but I can see you have just read that now.

Here is a listing I made for a FAQ I'm working on, let me know if it needs additions or tweaks:

.:.Legend.:.

A ...................... A button
B ...................... B Buton
X ...................... X Button
Y ...................... Y BUtton
Wt ...................... White button
BL ...................... Black button
L Trigger................. Left Trigger
R Trigger ............... Right Trigger
L Thumb .................. Left Thumbstick
R Thumb .................. Right Thumbstick
B,X ...................... B Button then X button
B+X ...................... Push B and X button at the same time

.:.Offense without ball.:.

L Thumbstick - Move player
L Trigger - Select player closest to the ball
R Trigger - Sprint
A - Dive for ball
Y - Soccer kick when near ball
B - Jump to catch ball

.:.Offense with ball.:.

L Thumbstick - Move player
R Thumbstick - Special moves (see Running w/ ball)
L - Select player closest to the ball
R - Sprint
A - Dive/Score Try/ Hold to Punt
B - Pass right (*)
X - Pass left (*)
B,X - Dummy pass to right side
X,B - Dummy pass to left side
Wt (hold for power) - Up and under kick (direct kick with L Thumb)
Y (hold for power) - Grubber kick (direct with L Thumb)
BL - Attempt Drop goal (Direct with L Thumb)

(*) You can determine what type of pass you want by how long you hold the button. A normal tap will produce a basic pass. Holding the button will produce a skip or long pass. Quickly tapping the button (before the player even catches the ball) will produce a quick pass.

.:.Running with the Ball .:.

All the special moves are controlled with the right thumbstick. For the purpose of this example assume you are on offense running Left to right. All these moves take a bit of time to pull off so do them early.

R Thumb Right (or same direction of movement) - Shoulder Charge
R Thumb Left (or opposite direction of movement) - HandOff/Stiffarm
R Thumb Up (+ perpendicular to movement) - Sidestep Left
R thumb Down (- perpendicular to movement) - Sidestep Right

The diagnals will give a combo of the 2 moves:

North East (UP+Right) - L Sidestep + shoulder charge
South East (Down+Right) - R Sidestep + Shoulder Charge
South West (Down+Left) - R Sidestep + Handoff
North West (UP+Left) - L Sidestep + Handoff
.:.Defense.:.
L Thumb - Move Player
L Trigger - Select Closest Player
R Trigger - Sprint
A - Diving Tackle / dive for ball
B - Jump to grab ball
R Thumb - Regular Tackle (Move in direction
of tackle)

.:.Ruck/Maul.:.
A - Bind Player to Ruck/Maul
L Trigger - Pass to Pack on Left side
R Trigger - Pass to Pack on Right side
X - Pass to Backs on Left side
B - Pass to Backs on Right side
BL - Pickup and run Right
Wt - Pickup and run Left
Y - Pickup ball & Kick (direct with
L Thumb)
Click and Hold R Thumb - Hands in the ruck (Prevent other
team from recycling the ball)(*)

(*) Watch out with this move. While effective it's also illegal and
may produce a penalty.

.:.Scrum.:.
A - Feed ball into scrum
X - Hook ball to your side
L Thumb - Push/Rotate Scrum
L Trigger - Pass to Pack on Left side
R Trigger - Pass to Pack on Right side
X - Pass to Backs on Left side
B - Pass to Backs on Right side
BL - Pickup and run Right
Wt - Pickup and run Left
Y - Pickup ball & Kick (direct with
L Thumb)
Click R Thumb - Collapse Scrum (Results in Penalty)

.:.Lineout.:.

A - Short Throw
B - Medium throw
Y - Long throw

D Pad Down - Que first Jumper
D Pad Right - Que Middle Jumper
D Pad Up - Que Far Jumper

Basicall it's either A+Down, B+Right or Y+Up. Timing is everythign to winning/stealing lineouts. If you want to start a maul pass to the A reciever. Works well for Lineouts near the goal line.

Morfious....YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!

If you were close by I would kiss you!

People like you who are generous to write up FAQs for everyones benefit should be giving the keys to TRF!

I am a bit worried now Marfious. Can't you pick up from the ruck or maul and just RUN?

Thank you Sanzar....always another TRF member around to alleviate my fears (whew!!).

Better put this in Morfious or there will be more panicky TRF members

hahahaha, I'm sure if he's writing an FAQ he won't miss much... people who write those things pay an alarming amount of attention to even the most insignificant details (which is fantastic for gamers) ... I'd say it's still early days for his FAQ.

looking forward to a rugby faq just to see what input each individual can bring to the table.
