Well, a good enough player but all he really adds IMO is experience and possibly depth if you factor in Andre Pretorius' ability to get injured climbing out of bed.

Lots of options at 10 for the Lions now with Jantjes, Francis, Pretorius and now James. Guess some of them could be used to cover other positions such as inside center but Doppies should still be no1.

They should start looking to get a tight five together, though.

Well, considering PdV is still confused with how good James isn't, he may be given game time by the Lions to try and help him get a spot in the RWC.

Wouldn't be surprised. I do have this horrible feeling that the Stormers are going to drop one to the Lions though. Can't justify it at all but the dread is there.

With James on the field there's likely to spend anywhere between 1/8 to the whole game a man down.

Haven't read that article, but the one I just read from Supersport says he is only joining in May.

Yes, he is only joining after the European regular season. TBH I would go for Jantjes over James already but you're right, a few months of Super rugby is just what the Lions and SA need to put Jantjes to the test and give him the opportunity to prove himself.

Good signing by the Lions, after they beat the sharks in the pre-seaoson game, I reckon they will try to stick to their momentum and get their strongest squad sorted.
