Hey guys, my season is starting up really soon and I'm not sure what position I should try out for. My friends and family say I should play wing, but I'm not sure if it's right for me. I'm 13 years old, weigh 61 kilos (about 135 lbs), and am 172cm tall(5'8). I'm one of the faster guys on my team but am also one of the stronger ones. I played prop and wing for the preseason. Any advice will help :D

Thx

Strong and fast? sounds like an OC to me, or possibly BSF, especially given your height for your age.

But that's for lazy stereotyping, and making assumptions that you will remain tall, strong and fast as everyone goes through puberty and growth spurts.

Play the position that you enjoy most, and best suits your rugby skills; choosing based on physique aged 13 may well mean a completely different position next year, and different again the following, and again, and again...

Hi, I'm 14.
It sounds like you're a bit similar to I was last season. I was played as a prop but ended up scoring 15 tries that season, a few from over 50 metres out, 1 from 75. Because of this people have often said I should play wing, so it sounds more or less the same as you. Anyway, this season I've comfortably settled in at 8, so I would suggest you going for that. If not, it sounds as if you could also go for 6, 7, 12, 13 or even stay on the wing and be a Savea-type player. Hope this helps :)
