Premiership Rugby 19/20 - Rd 16

Bristol have gone all out. Fully expecting a Bristol win.

That could be an understatement, i've just looked at odds, Bristol 1/4.
might be an embarrasment, esp second half.

Very disappointing from Baxter from me when he knew Bears would put out A team.
We shouldn't need our A team on sun v Warriors so i dont understand the selection at all.

Tbh the more baffling selection was against Leicester. Certainly didn't need a full strength side for that one, especially with no mid week game after.

The Leicester game was a week away from next game so it wouldn't come under the player welfare regs, and you do need to get your top players up to speed ASAP.

I kind of understand the logic.

Exeter 1s vs Bristol 1s is a close game.
Exeter 2s vs Worcester 1s is a close game.

So rather than risk 2 losses, firm the loss against Bristol with a 2s side and then guarantee a win against Worcester with a 1s side.

Bristol now shortened to 2/9.
Goes against the grain but I've backed the Bears on the handicap giving up 10.

Makes sense for Exeter
Play A team for 1 game v Bristol
or
Play A team for Sale and Worcester?

Max 5 points v max 10 points
I understand if they had nothing to play for but they want top spot sown up.

Full strength side pretty much from us.. young charlie atkinson (u18 England Fly Half) on bench

In effect beating Bristol is equivalent of winning 2 games in respect of both teams position in table.
Chiefs 5pts Bears 0 -Chiefs have 13 pt adv. over Bears.
Chiefs 0pts Bears 5 - Chiefs have 3pts adv. over Bears.

The Worcs game carries a lot less tariff.
IMO if the Chiefs were seriously after top spot it should have been all out v Bears.

I actually recognise some of these Tigers.

The whole strong team / weak team thing is understandable but frustrating. Rugby's a crap sport with mismatched teams. The main point of interest for the rest of the "season" will be how some of the youngsters take their chance.

8 of the sale side tonight came from Sale FC, which is pretty cool (can boost that a bit more by chucking in three of the coaches n all)

5 Sale academy hookers between the two 23s

Aye Luke James is special,
I say it every time but he was playing backrow until senior academy - crazy considering how natural he looks at 12/15

Hard to believe Wasps were 1/7 to win this. Whats happened to them?
Gives hope to chiefs against Bears (massive 2/9)
