Romanian Rugby

If you're looking for a fight, you've come to the wrong place. This is a rugby forum.

Congratulations to the Russian team for the qualification. If they are as good as you claim, I wonder why they still needed the dirty visa tricks though, maybe this is just the Russian way to do things. Good luck trying that in the pool stages. As for "not inviting Russia to the Nations Cup", you're wrong once more. The teams are invited by World Rugby, not by Romania.
Dirty tricks visas are in your mind, who do you think of them you like?

Putin? He does not even know that this sport exists.

Our Rugby Federation consisting of 15 persons calling Foreign Minister Lavrov that he would have changed judges from Wales to the Italians?

Maybe giants Gazprom and Lukoil paid for the win, "Yenisei"? They do not fund the rugby.

How did it all by your going?

And why exactly do you ever?

To fly from Bucharest to Sochi - 1000 km. Maybe in a few hours flight you tired?

Maybe you have a few foreign rugby players?

6 New Zealanders, French, Italian, South African ...

Maybe somebody else to buy?

Maybe we should expel Georgian remain two Latvians and Ukrainians, and you will have a chance?

You thought maybe that's the case?

And do despicable things is not our method, we have always met the enemy face to face and won fairly.

Otherwise, it is not considered a win.

And when we are good rugby in Russia will begin to develop, then the loss of 20 points will win for you ...:)

This crap is not worth an answer. You win a few matches against us after years of defeats and here you are, writing all these rude, arrogant and provocative posts. This must be the Russian way, good job proving it once more.

Superliga results this weekend:
Steaua - Saracens Timisoara 31-18 (!)
U Cluj - Dinamo 14-17

I agree with dragos, come on Vladimir, your writings contribute nothing.

I watched the end of Steaua-Timisoara, Dumbrava looks in good shape for a veteran!

In the second division, CSM U23 stil unbeaten and Steaua U23 won his first game

Russian way is that Putin has canceled visas for foreign athletes when they go to the competition in Russia.

http://news.yahoo.com/russia-scraps-visas-foreign-athletes-172252038.html

And at the 2018 FIFA World Cup to abolish visas for fans.

As you can see Russia not afraid of anyone except Romania)))

Here's Google, find confirmation of his lies.

https://www.google.ru/#newwindow=1&q=in+Russia+did+not+issue+visas+to+foreign+athletes

For us Russia is very easy to get there, but from Africa tend to Europe, but not in Russia.

We have no benefits and privileges for foreigners. Come and live.

If you can.

But we hope you'll only on themselves.

In 2007, in the semifinals of the Federation Cup tennis in the United States were not allowed head coach Tarpishchev.

You know what we did?

We won the Fed Cup in 2007.;)

I have no problem with Russia, as I have no problem with Georgia, I'm not georgian.
I follow closely the RPRL and I'm happy for Enisey-STM even if my favorite team in Russia is Krasny Yar.
But I don't like yout attitude. Most of your messages have nothing to do with rugby are only provocation

I watched the end of Steaua-Timisoara, Dumbrava looks in good shape for a veteran!

Dumbrava seems to play better than he ever did in his youth! If he keeps his current form, I bet he will be the Oaks starter at the RWC.

I don't think CSM U23 will lose any match in the second division this season. They are just too strong, with a mix of talented youngsters (who train full time) and experienced players. They also have a few foreigners and get reinforcements from the first team every match.

Yep, the team CSM U23 is impressive. I tried to make U23 squad on wikipedia but I miss few names :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSM_București_(Rugby)#Current_2015_U23_squad
If you have more infos?

I watched fixtures from the Divizia A
http://www.super-liga.ro/divizia-a/program-rezultate-3/

And it seem Farul Constanta will play in Divizia A, wich is a good news, but no Brasov?
Also no Rechinii and Cleopatra-Tomitanii. Both wanted to play in the third division. Would have been nice to see 10 teams in Divizia A

I couldn't find any list of the CSM U23 players but you've done a great job on Wikipedia.

I suspect the Farul team that will play in the third division was created combining the efforts of Rechinii, Tomitanii and Cleopatra. It's great to see Farul coming back and also a team from Mangalia competing again.

I think Brasov will miss this season due to some legal issues with their stadium.

Rechinii was a social rugby team who played last year in 10s social rugby competition, many of them ex-Farul players or from other teams from Constanta.

Tomitanii and Cleopatra are juniors club only.

So in order to avoid a complete disappearing of Farul, these guys joined efforts to form a 3rd Division squad. Those old but gutsy boys from Rechinii will he augmented with juniors from Cleopatra or Tomitanii. They play for free, just to keep Farul going.

That's a good thing. Thanks for infos

I am (i mean was- 'till this year) an active player for Brasov, unfortunately, we lost our main (and one of the two) sponsor, so we don't have any $$ to continue- last season was tight anyway... Too bad, after 47 years (the club was founded in 1968), this is the first season of inactivity :(.

There are some plans for a comeback next year, but i am skeptical and i don't see any future for the team in this format.

On the other hand, the junior segment is growing, we have like... 4 great clubs, with a lot of players, so maybe there's hope for the senior level, in the future.

Cupa Regelui (King's Cup) is a competition under the patronage of Mihai I, (ex-) King of Romania. Since the end of the Second World War in Europe is celebrated across the continent these days, it's maybe worth a short off-topic post. Mihai I is the last surviving important character of the war. His decision to remove pro-German marshall Antonescu in August 1944 and side with the Allies has shortened the end of the war by a few months at least. He was still exiled by the communists after the war but his actions earned Stalin's respect, who asked his cronies to remove him in a non-violent way.

On May 10, Romania celebrates the Day of the Kingdom, a date linked to three historical events:
- on 10 May 1866, prince Carol of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen arrived in Bucharest and was sworn as prince of Romania, at that time still an Ottoman vassal
- on 10 May 1877, prince Carol proclaimed the independence of the country, at the start of the War of 1877-1878
- on 10 May 1881, Carol I is crowned as the first King of Romania

I was a child during the last communist years, when everything related to the kings was forbidden. Every year on May 10, my grandfather (a former officer of the Royal Romanian Army and veteran of the Eastern Front) would take out his wartime medals from their hiding place (posession of such awards meant jail at the time) and tell me that what I see every day is not the real Romania. He said that sooner or later the communists will be gone and the king will return, that I must always remember what May 10 means, even after he's gone. I did not forget, grandpa.

Long live the King! I think is great that Royal House of Romania awarded their patronage to Romanian Rugby.

Here's the new Farul team to play in the 3rd division this season. It's mainly made from Rechinii players, with the Tomitanii coaching staff. They will wear Farul's gear and play on the Mihail Naca Stadium. The old boys will probably only play the current season to keep the Farul name alive, a new team based on the youngsters at Tomitanii (national champions at U18 level) will probably replace them next year.

The team includes many legendary former players of Farul and the Oaks, among them winger Catalin Sasu (he's 47 now), who has scored two tries at the 1991 RWC and played in the first ever Heineken Cup match for Farul against Toulouse in 1995.

Edit: Sasu's try against Hawke's Bay in 1991. Amz, I hear he can still score such tries against your team in the amateur league :)

Nice story here!

I saw the ref of Timisoara-Baia Mare is a french referee, Thomas Charabas. He was 12 times the referee in ProD2 this season and also ref 4 Top14 games last year

You'd be tempted to say that considering that he's more aerodynamic now without hair ;)

Superliga Day 7:
Dinamo - Steaua 22-30
U Cluj - CSM Bucuresti 20-41
Saracens Timisoara - Baia Mare 33-14 (5th defeat in a row for Baia Mare)

The veterans at Farul have lost heavily their first match away against Metrorex today (40-12) but they are keeping the club's name alive. It was a dream come true for some of the social members of Rechinii, who have never played for a club before: to start for Farul in an official match :)

In the second division, CSM U23 has crushed Stejarul 73-0 in Buzau. They will have an interesting opponent next round, when they play Steaua U23.

It's also worth noting that the young prop of Suceava, Octav Scolobiuc, is one of the top scorers in the division. Unusually for a prop, he is the team kicker and has scored one try, 7 conversions and 10 penalties so far.

Btw, French ref Charabas did well in the Timisoara vs Baia Mare match.

Superliga Day 8:
CSM BUcuresti - Saracens Timisoara 18-27 (crazy match with spectacular tries and many yellow cards)
Baia Mare - Dinamo 32-0
Steaua - U Cluj 36-12

Hooker Otar Turashvili has signed for two seasons with Colomiers (Pro D2), who apparently followed the advice of Marius Tincu. There will be two Oaks at Colomiers, since Mihai Macovei will also join the club.
