Huge surprise in the second match, it has just ended. The match officials found something wrong in the papers of 6 Timisoara starters (most of them key players: Fercu, Capatana, Calafeteanu, Kinikinilau, Umaga, Fonovai) and they were not allowed to play. The start of the match was postponed by 30 min to allow Timisoara to replace them in the squad. No doubt this has something to do with the ongoing dispute between the champion club and the Federation. The match itself was a dire affair but Farul took their chance and won. Timisoara is out of the title race without scoring a single point at home. I'm afraid this dispute will have some very nasty consequences on the future of the Superliga and the Bucharest Wolves squad this season...

I wouldn't be so quick to blame the union for this. According to some rumours I've heard, some paperwork was destroyed on purpose before the match and the author of this sabotage is suspected to be a Timisoara staff member. Apparently the police has started an official investigation.
I don't want to blame anyone without proof but many things have gone wrong since Dusan Filipas has been appointed as Timisoara vice-president. He started by sacking team manager Dan Borzas, followed by head coach Danie de Villiers. Then there was the ridiculous incident with the "leaked" letter to the FRR (also blamed on internal sabotage). Last week he starts an open war with the union, refusing to release players for the Wolves. And now this... No doubt his actions have made him a lot of enemies (it seems that inside the club as well) and RCM's season has been ruined as a result. Filipas should resign in my opinion.

As the investigation on the semifinal continues, RCM Timisoara has announced again that none of its players will play for the Bucharest Wolves. FRR will have to replace the 9 players with options from the other clubs.
This will severely weaken the Wolves and it makes Italian club Calvisano the big favourite for Challenge Cup qualification.
This stupid dispute between the champion club and the union will probably destroy the season for the Wolves and will have a negative impact on the national team before the November tests.

Baia Mare is the new champion of Romania, after defeating Farul Constanta 25-19. I think Baia Mare were the best team this season and they would have probably won vs Timisoara as well. As for Farul, they did better than expected in the final and fought for it until the last minute.

One week ago he was taken to the hospital with severe bleeding symptoms and the doctors found a severe kidney failure that could have killed him. The player tried to hide his condition because he wanted to play in the Superliga final. The club has called for all the fans of the team to donate blood for him. He will never be able to play rugby again and will have to receive dialysis his entire life unless and kidney donor can be found.
- The final round of the European 7s Championship will be played this weekend in Bucharest. Saturday will be a day full of rugby on the Arcul de Triumf Stadium because the 7s action will be followed by the Bucharest Wolves vs Calvisano match. Honestly, the pitch was in an awful state last week, I'm afraid it could become unplayable.
Due to Timisoara refusing to release its players for the Wolves and more players being injured, the Wolves will have a weakened lineup. Calvisano are now the favorites for Challenge Cup qualification.

The Saracens will come to Timisoara on October 18 to play a friendly match against the local club, which is part of their global network. Next year they will also send some of their academy prospects to play for RCM Timisoara in the Romanian league.
The owner of the club also said he is preparing important transfers for the next season, they are in talks with three Romanians, five South Africans and two Serbian players (I assume the Serbs are part of the club's project to make rugby more popular in the neigbouring country). With the support of Saracens, Timisoara hopes to get a wild card to play in the Challenge Cup next year.
In other news, RC Barlad has won the second division, earning promotion to the Superliga. They have a young squad and their head coach said they are not afraid of being trashed in the top league and they hope to get support from the local authorities and sponsors to be able to compete.

I assume Saracens will send his second side (Saracens Storm) because the first side will play against Clermont in European Champions Cup, but still a good team.
I'm looking forward about this game, and about names of Timisoara's new players!
It's ok if it's the second side, hopefully there will be at least a few names from the first team who don't make the squad for the Clermont match.

I've heard an interesting rumour today: after he did great in the Superliga and for the Bucharest Wolves, Sean Morrell wants to also become eligible to play for the Romanian national team by using the 7s loophole. Morrell was capped by Fiji in both XVs and 7s. Apparently Lynn Howells thinks he would be a great adition to the Oaks and I agree with him.
It's strange that Fiji has been ignoring this excellent player while for example Farul Constanta's Ravulo Malakai is a starter for the national team (in my opinion, Morrell is clearly better).
