[RWC19 Warm-Up] - England vs Ireland

Not necessarily, those three aren't going to be the ones dragging Ireland to victories this year at all. England have had two tune up games of higher quality than our one and look like they're focusing on this one for their big performance before the RWC, most of our team are only going to be dusting the cobwebs off.

Depends how England start, if they get frustrated we have a chance but it'll probably have to be their failings rather than us using any nuance or power to frustrate them, I just can't see us being match sharp yet.
True but alot of lads will not get better opportunities. Can't see Byrne getting a better shot.

One thing that's odd about the 6/7 thing is that when Underhill dropped out last time Curry went to 7 and Ludlam 6, but then when Ludlam started the following week it was at 7.
If it was just left/right surely theyd have just left it as 6. Curry 7. Ludlam?
I don't think it matters either way, it's only at the scrum it'll make a difference, but just another EJ eccentricity

I think it's finally official... Jones doesn't know the difference between a 6 and a 7.

I’m no expert in the fatties but I feel like 6/7 can mix it up a bit in open play, if the two of them compliment each other well in terms of skillset then I’m not convinced the open/blind distinction is important. I certainly feel like the distinction between insider/outside centre is much more significant for example.

As long as it adds up to 13. Clearly the ideal is to field two 6.5s!

If Daly goes down would Ford not go there? Pace to cover ground, normally good kicking from hand. Obviously wouldn't be too excited if he was 1 on 1 5m out but neither am I with Daly

Just a few pictures of Garry Ringrose's recent recon mission of England player's assholes before Saturday's incoming anal bombardment.

(Yes, I'm aware that the multiple times I have done this in the past were before painful losses and no, I don't care)

Post a bunch of images of Stockdale, it worked really well last time.

You've got a halfway competent rugby player at fullback this time, though, so doubt it will be as big of a reaming.

It's always been Ringrose pics!

But speaking of Stockdale and decent Fullbacks, here's the face Elliot Daly will be making when he realises he has to deal with the two of them chasing garryowens all day!

Yeah, every Exeter fan knows that your smallest, fastest back row plays #8!

Exactly 6Billy 7Underhill 8Curry!

Tbh though yes playing left and rights make sense but this isnt 2 6.5s situation thank god. Tbh prob will play OSF BSF as you said underhills destructive tackling.

Should be so much better at the breakdown at least.

No one else has metioned it so I will. The English backrow while I'm intrugued to see how it goes as we've lacked a proper 7 for so long leaves a lot of the line out onus on the locks as I can't see either Curry or Underhill being anywhre near POM levels of skill on the lineout so if its going to get shown up it will at the weekend at least.

Traditional 7s to me are good on the floor but also have better handling skills to enable them to link up with the backs which is why I find where Jones has put Curry and Underhill odd. It is Jones though.

I'd just love to see the Garryowen chasing Irish pack bearing down on Ford. If I was Irish.

They can both take the odd ball but not much more than that. It just highlights one of Binny's weaknesses. Are there any other 8s in tier 1 who aren't at least highly proficient at line out time?

The Currys are some of Sale's main lineout takers.

I say it everytime but the obsession with having a lineout specialist does my nut in.
I blame Tom Croft.

If you can get them in the air that's good enough for backrow, especially with how good Krutoje are.

I listened to Tommy Bowe being interview this morning. He seemed to suggest they're working on a new gameplan and said he met Schmidt last November and Schmidt told him that whatever happens in the 6N happens but their focus for this year is on the world cup.

He also mentioned Henshaw has been training a lot at 15

Tommy Bowe is a shitposter on here: Confirmed.

The world has spun on it axis when all 4 starting Tigers are in the backs
Well, stepping back a bit everyone should really be questioning why so many players from the second-worst premiership side are even there in the first place.

It's partly why international English rugby has been underachieving for so long. A radical shake up is really needed destroying favouritism and the old boy's club in the process. I'm not talking now as it should have happened years ago but post world cup should really be clear-out and restructure time.

On to the game itself, is Francis being considered for 15 and 12 cover? Clearly experimenting is going on for both sides and it's probably a good thing given it's a meaningless warm up. Should be a fascinating game to watch.

It's not like they've been picked just because they're Tigers. May is so good right now, Manu is a force, Ford was the best player at Tigers and is a great fly half. Youngs is... Experienced, and we're stuck with him.

Youngs aside, they're all top options in their positions.
