Second test - NZL vrs ENG

Can't see NZL winning this one. Would have been a hard challenge with a fully fit side, let alone a depleted one.

McCullum was bedridden but is playing, Oram can't bowl and will play only as a batsman, Fleming is in isolation with a throat infection, Bond is ruled out with back problems, McMillian ruled out with a broken finger.

Best we can hope for is a draw and maybe a win in the last test.

You're clutching at straws.

England should wipe the floor with the team that'll be out, but I know England too well to know that they'll make hard work of it.

Sometimes a little hardship can bring out the best in players. It will come down for NZL to how Cairns bowls as the third seamer, and how the top half of the innings bats.

England are probably stronger then the first test side, so I'm under no illusions as to the difficulty of the task at hand.

Start delayed by rain....

Bloody typical of Yorkshire!

Go down the pub
Have a drink
Get completely plastered
And then go home
To beat my wife
Coz I'm a Yorkshire *******....

Early lunch taken, and we started 5 minutes ago.

New Zealand are batting.

New Zealand 33-1

Martin Saggers bowled Richardson out with his first ball in test match cricket.

Rain stopped play with New Zealand at 36-1.

Bloody weather!!!

Said it before, and I'll say it again...

Go down the pub
Have a drink
Get completely plastered
And then go home
To beat my wife
Coz I'm a Yorkshire *******....

I don't like Yorkshire, me....

True, it's not often we win the toss.

It's a shame the game has been spoiled by poor weather.

Some more bloody awful bowling from England, though the Kiwi pair are batting very well.

All Blacks 127-1 at Lunch.

New Zealand look to be in control at 351-6. Be interesting to see how the weather holds up.

....in England, in his second Test.
___________

NZ in the driving seat now.

Hopefully England will go in this afternoon and lost no more than 2 wickets. That would put us in a safeish position going into the final two days.

Decent start to the English reply with both openers getting 50s and England at
142-0

England going pretty well.
Tres is clearly on form and is 127*

..............................................................Runs Balls
M E Trescothick not out ...........................127 200
A J Strauss c D R Tuffey b D L Vettori .........62 114
M A Butcher lbw b D L Vettori .....................4 20
M P Vaughan c S P Fleming b S B Styris....... 13 40
G P Thorpe not out ..................................... 1 3

I suspect vaughany may have had his mind on other things. Another good knock by Strauss and hopefully Thorpey can play one of his typical innings and take it thorough to tomorrow lunch at least.

England 248-4 at the close of play, some 150 behind. I'd still back a draw at this stage.
