Semi-final 2: Waratahs v Sharks

Alright, so you can't take criticism? Should I fall to my knees and pray at the altar of Lote?

Jesus Christ people, harden up, a bit of bloody criticism never hurt anyone![/b]
Says the man who comes crying every time the herald prints an article that dares suggests the Force aren't the greatest thing to happen to Aussie rugby we won the RWC in England's backyard.

Uh oh... this is starting to resemble 2005 all over again...

Crusaders v Waratahs final...

I hope this doesn't mean we're going to lose all of our Tri Nations games again, and get humiliated in the UK?! [/b]
Now what's that thing you say when a bunch of losers are bagging you out? Oh right: "put up or shut up". The rest of the Aussies teams did f*** all this year and the Tahs have made the final. Yeah, we're in for a tough one against the Crusaders, but it's hardly like we've been building ourselves up as certain champions... Your team sucked, ours didn't. DEAL WITH IT!
Seriously you lot really need to get over this ****, no one in NSW knows what any of you are on about. I and all my mates were glad when the brumbies won their first final against the Sharks in 01 and again against the saders in Canberra... there was no way I would have backed a foreign team against an Aussie team, not even if it was Qld (and that says a lot).

Someone is awfully defensive this evening...

I don't see how my post has anything to do with my team?

Just setting the record straight now that you and the NSW hate brigade have had your fun ;) . As for "your team", the minute you blamed the Tahs for a bad wallabies season you brought them into it. QED - you want the wallabies to have less Tahs, then your team has to stop farting around and start playing some f***ing rugby.
The great thing about next week is that this year has already exceeded what all us Tahs supporters expected by a long shot. So if we win... well, lets just say we're going to shove it down your throats for the rest of the year.
And yes BLR, if we do win, then I will expect you to bow down to the alter of Lote... and also to suck my balls :p .

So how have Tahs fans been any different every other year the Waratahs have won or lost?

Yeah alright, so I should just be cool that the SMH MADE up stories about the Force? Just plain made them up and cited 'unnamed sources' and expected everyone to be cool with it? It's called journalistic integrity...keep in mind as well the Western Australian courts have asked the SMH for thier email addresses that they sent to the former Force CEO who started stirring up alot of the stuff, some false...now why would a newspaper that was doing the right stuff be asked by the COURTS to release thier emails....it's the reality now get over it, I sure have.

I suggest you re-read my post, I gave the Tahs kudos for a good match and then warned about what they have ahead, citing the differences between the Saders and Tahs games....re-read my posts about the Force when I would tip the other team or doubt that we would be able to win it...it's not a Tah thing that I view matches OBJECTIVELY and pick holes in the games, it's what I do to every game.

So lets look at the Tahs now objectively. The tight five is good, Vickerman and Ali Williams will have a huge battle in the lineouts. If the back row come to play they will be formidable. The forwards is where the power of the Tahs lay, and they showed that tonight against the Sharks, the pass from Beale to Elsom that set him through during the first half I think it was shows the type of link up play that is integral to giving the Tahs a shot at the ***le.

In saying that the Crusaders don't have the concentration of talent that the Tahs have yet they have been worked into such a formidable team. McDonald was immense tonight and Carter will always come to play. I really rate Laulaula and I think he got some injury tonight but if he plays it will increase the Saders attacking potential. I think that maybe Stephen Brett will get a chance to start and will be perfect to stenghten the Sader midfield. As for the forwards they gave the Hurricanes a good shove today so will give the Tahs a good game in the scrums and McCaw will come with a fire in his belly. Ali Williams will be as mongrel as anything I'd think, perhaps the Tahs should try to set him off to get the Saders one man down....

The Tahs strength is in thier forwards, on a good day they can dominate any team but I think by watching the Saders tonight they have been playing cat and mouse the last few weeks, they are good enough to take care of the Tahs forwards and thier backline is just immense....they will be playing for Robbie Deans, the man who turned Canterbury rugby into a dynasty....they will play like demons and we remember what happened last game in Canterbury....

How's that? Where's the blind hatred in that? And as for going for the Tahs because they are an Australian team....I will support them when they where the green and gold. Besides, I live in the most isolated capital city in the world and have a Kiwi family, I can choose to go for who I damn well please!

I have a better question: Why did you ever give a ****? You say you're over it now, but you must have made at least 2 dozen references to it over the season. Fact was it's a sport column, not exactly the traditional home of 'fair and balanced journalism' (and bloody hell BLR, wake the f*** up on this one, 'journalistic integrity' barely exists even in REAL news now) and half the **** came out in the off season when bullshit rules. Bottom line was that if a story is not true and it doesn't involve any serious defamation like child pornography, then who f***ing cares? Ultimately, the only thing the whole thing really did was put the Force in the papers more over in WA.

Most reasonable people will try their best give a somewhat balanced view of their own teams performance. I never said you were claiming the Force were world beaters... my beef has just been that almost every week you've looked for a chance to lay the boot into the Tahs regardless of their form, and if that's "OBJECTIVE", then I can only assume that you studied at the Brit Hume school of journalism (either that or you've been hanging out with your buddy Gowden too much).

The Tahs strength is in their forwards, on a good day they can dominate any team but I think by watching the Saders tonight they have been playing cat and mouse the last few weeks, they are good enough to take care of the Tahs forwards and their backline is just immense....they will be playing for Robbie Deans, the man who turned Canterbury rugby into a dynasty....they will play like demons and we remember what happened last game in Canterbury....

Yeah, you've been trying a bit harder in the post match wash up (and it's appreciated), but don't pretend as though you are objective in your analysis and commentary on the Tahs. This has seriously been the best and most objective post you've written about the Tahs so far, and it's not like I think you've just been a total c***... but you do your fair share of effigy burning and it just starts to give us Tahs fans the shits after a while. We know we're in for a tough match against the Saders, they have a winning culture over they're the most successful team in Super rugby history and they're playing for their outgoing coach. We get it, trust me!

And as for going for the Tahs because they are an Australian team....I will support them when they where the green and gold. Besides, I live in the most isolated capital city in the world and have a Kiwi family, I can choose to go for who I damn well please!
[/b]
Yeah, and you do (I think you mentioned you were one of those bandwagoning soccer fans who follows some EPL side that has no connection with them whatsoever). As for your background, well I have a Swedish and Irish family, so f***ing what, we're a country with a 200 year history and we're made up of immigrants. But hey, I don't mind the kiwis that much. Go for them if it really makes you feel good. Generally speaking it's the supporting of the SA teams against us that gave me the shits... those f***ers treat Aussies teams like **** over there and they're not awfully discriminate about it.

At the end of the day I think a lot of us Tahs fans have got the shits because it feels like we've been bagged out by everyone all year and even after making the bloody final it still seems like everyone just wants to watch us fail.

I have a better question: Why did you ever give a ****? [/b]
The SMH were the main driving force against a pre season dirt digging against the Force, I give a **** because it got to the point where they would write one line about an upcoming game and then have several paragraghs documenting all the troubles that they have ever had in their existence...you were saying that the denegration of the Tahs fans the last few weeks (I think you are over-doing it when you say it has been all season) has gotten old, try months of denegration of the Force by the premier rugby related newspaper whos stories were often picked up around Australia...its not just some little Sydney newspaper.....

So because I am not a Tah fan I cannot give my opinion of the game? Give me a over-view of the Tahs game for me to see where I am going wrong, to see where my huge anti Tah bias has blinded me? I don't see how my analysis is not entirely appropriate, is it because I didn't say I expected the Tahs to win by 20+? I mean, that's entirely realistic....
Yeah, and you do (I think you mentioned you were one of those bandwagoning soccer fans who follows some EPL side that has no connection with them whatsoever). [/b]
Don't bandwagoners support teams to get the glory of winning trophies, I started going with them when they were shite. ;) And I have my own personal reasons for not supporting the local A League team...

Well done Tahs, the Sharks really sucked today and the victory is well deserved, you don't have a hope in hell of winning in Christchurch though but enjoy the moment!

Thank you GG, it's always good when a man who knows his stuff gives your team a bit of a wrap (and saying the Tahs are the only team with a chance of beating the Crusaders is a huge wrap).
[/b]

Haha...well actually what I said was that the Crusaders are the only team capable of beating the Tahs....not the other way around.

I have been wary of the Waratahs for the last month and have felt that the only team with a chance of stopping them is the Crusaders.[/b]
This is because I have thought that the form team coming into the playoffs was the Tahs, then the Sharks, then the Hurricanes, then the Crusaders fourth. Coming into the playoffs the Crusaders look weak on defence. However form changes during playoffs as well.

Even though the Sharks shot themselves in the foot by playing a different lineup from last week I think eventually the Tahs would have shown their dominance especially in front of their home crowd.

This was a horrible game to watch as i was supporting the Sharks, they were exactly like the last time they played in Sydney ..pathetic. If it was the Stormers there they would have played some proper rugby ;). The Waratahs were awesome, brilliant defense, taking their try scoring chances and ultimately if they had a half decent 10 they could have won by 30 points.

Seriously though, anyone who thinks Beale is good needs to get their heads checked. Forgot to mention on the postive side the locks were immense, owning the lineouts and Palu and Elsom were awesome yet again.

Next weeks final will be closer than many think i feel.

Waratahs owned the sharks. That flanker that kept on dropping the ball was hilarious lmaoo.

Waratahs 08 champs

Yep I agree...it will be close...I think the Waratahs could actually win this years Super 14 if they believe in themselves and come out all angus and take the game to the Crusaders.

It will be a huge game...Robbies boys will be playing for their coach. Robbie also needs to win this to have the respect of the Aussie players when he gets over there...nothing like playing for a coach who has conquered you and now wants to teach you the secrets on how to be the conquer others.

Yeah, and the influence of those articles clearly led to the downfall of the Force  . Basically what you're saying is that the negative publicity upset force fans... because if it wasn't true then that's all it could really do.

So because I am not a Tah fan I cannot give my opinion of the game? Give me a over-view of the Tahs game for me to see where I am going wrong, to see where my huge anti Tah bias has blinded me? [/b]
No, it's because before the match you didn't even give an analysis until after the match. You just posted an image of Tuqiri in the mouth of a Shark. And while I'm sure that's great and balanced analysis for the SA fans around here, it does seem a touch bias to us. And anyway, your immediate response to the Tahs proving you wrong yet again was basically you saying that it's because teams have been suffering stage fright and giving games to the Tahs... I don't expect you to become a fan, but your reluctance to give them any credit isn't exactly a point of contention.
But whatever, I'm over arguing with you about the Tahs at this point. If you can't see you've been pig headedly biased against them more often than not, then you need to look up the definition of 'bias' because I'm guessing you think it means something else.

Don't bandwagoners support teams to get the glory of winning trophies, I started going with them when they were shite. ;) And I have my own personal reasons for not supporting the local A League team...

You've abandoned your local competition in favour of the highest club competition in the world. If you had supported the J-League or even some of the South American comps you might be able to claim otherwise, but you went for the obscenely rich pommy comp. That sounds like bandwagoning to me.

Nah, it's more to do with the fact that my entire friend group besides one are english...if I didn't have them in the mate group I doubt I would be supporting anything besides rugby...

Jeeez would be pretty f__king massive if Rob Horne starts in the final! First year out of school and in a super 14 final against the Crusaders! And for the likes of Turner and Beale as well.

Yeah I agree unbelievable footy for his age/experience. He hardly got a wrap at all for jolting the ball free with his tackle on whoever it was for Tiquiri's try. Wasn't sure why they dropped him to the bench for the Reds game

They gave him appropriate wraps on Sports Tonight tonight...the Fox Sports commentators aren't classic commentators so don't expect them to pick up on much. ;)

I think he would have been dropped on the bench as the Tahs would have expected the Reds to come out with a blood lust of sorts and a player of his inexperience would have been targeted....
