Suggestions/ideas for Rugby 2012

Rugby 2012

Rugby 2012 has to have a good rwc 2011 gameplay but also imorove in player abilities...with making players specialist in their role. Make player positions editable and and allow us to create a team in the world league mode. Also rugby 2012 should have more realistic Kit's like the boots..and jerseys and scrumcaps shud be more realistic. I also think there should be a special mode where if you win the rugby world cuo 2011 in a certain mode..u get to play a rwc xv team. There should be a mode where you can in the super 14 or european cup...and be able to sign and release players...MANAGER mode.

Players out of position needs to be sorted too, it just doesnt make sense that a player out of position can barely catch anything! They should do it like Fifa where players can play out of position just wouldnt be as effective there.

One thought I had on this would be to have tiers of suitability for a position, with all players having one primary position (maybe multiple for real utility players), and most having some secondary positions. Playing in a secondary position means reduced performance, but nothing like the horrors of out-of-position play in Rugby 08. For instance, Piri Weepu's primary position is 9, but he should have 10 as a secondary, because he's perfectly adequate cover there. Positionality should be specific to the jersey number, so most wingers, for example, will have a preferred wing. But in general, a specialty no. 11 should have 14 as a secondary position.

Beyond this, it would be good to have the compatibility of players to positions tailored to the closeness of the positions. So, making a prop your fullback is generally really bad, but playing a centre on the wing isn't going to be a complete disaster.

Ideally, suitability for a position (and the problems of playing out of position) would be all based on specific attributes: your prop is a bad fullback because he doesn't have the speed to get back for the ball, or the skill in kicking for touch, not just because he magically drops the ball every time you pass it to him. But it is probably a lot harder to design the game like this... *sigh*

Oh, and, like FIFA, it would be good to get an indication of the performance hit your player is taking by playing in a different position.

These are just some thoughts of mine. I'm going to be excited about this game no matter what. :)

Oh, and, even though lots of people have said this already....
- More tournaments. Stuff like the pacific nations cup would be good, and easier than currie/ITM cups, as it only involves teams that will probably already be in the game.
- Customisability. It's easier to skimp on including lots of tournaments and teams if players are able to add their own. Custom tournaments/tours at least would give a lot of value to the game for not too much added efford (I hope).

Player Ratings more realistic Ma'a Nonu is way higher then 78 and Pierre Spies these 2 should be in the 88-92 margin.
More line-out options pick your flankers to jump too would be great.
update star player system NZ. Carter,Mc Caw,Nonu,Sivivatu. AUS.Giteau,Elsom,Mitchell,Genia. South Africa Spies,Burger,M.Steyn,Matfield.
France.T.Dusautoir,Trinh- Duc,Chabel,Jauzion,Heymans.etc....
better attacking plays and defense patterns e.g flat backline, umbrella defense.
improve the sidesteping and fending and tackling ankle taps, wrap ball up tackles, slam them on there back tackles.
Real Rosters, kits license's plz h.b studios and a edit ratings and names if you cant also kit editing woul be awesome.
Too many things to name but im sure h.b studio will make a great rugby game.

Seeing as New Zealand is host for the World Cup and we are Rugby mad over here. I'd like to see the Air New Zealand Cup!!! Huge ask but what about 7's Rugby??? Maybe you could produce a sevens ARCADE style release after this game...SEVENS RUGBY arcade would be ultimately AWESOME.

I just want a quality Create A Player tool. Similar to Pro Evo, where you can change everything, it would be brilliant. Total customisation of players and squads would be amazing as well.

More trophies to win. The Freedom Cup and Mandela Plate as part of the Tri-Nations would be great. Also, the Grand Slam Trophy for the Six Nations (Winning all games) and perhaps even an opportunity to do the Spring Tour with Australia/New Zealand and win that Grand Slam.

I still really want to see this.

In the way of stadiums, as a Melbournian I'd love to see Etihad Stadium, where we have a test match every year and the MCG, one of the sporting wonders of the world and hosted a test in 2007.

Also, something similar to FIFA with the one-on-one practice mode, and which they have in NBA, I'd love to see a rugby version where we can practice set pieces, drop kicks and general play in the start menu.

Dunno if this has been said, but was playing the game recently and found it annoying not being able to execute backline moves of first phase lineout ball.

Does anyone else think that the way video game licensing works is a little odd? When you think about it, these teams are essentially getting free advertising and public exposure simply by virtue of being in the game. Perhaps HB could frame it that way to these teams - tell them they are offering them the opportunity to be accurately presented in a video game that will give its brand exposure to a new market and then tell them that it won't cost them a dime - they just need to agree ;) .

Like FIFA, i think there should be 2 games of rugby released. One involving the International teams and Competition( ie. World Cup, Tri-Nations, Six-Nations, Pacific Rim etc.) with qualifying for the world cup added. And there should be one totally about provincial rugby (ie. Heineken Cup, ITM Cup, Currie Cup, etc.) Also with the international sides, to give the game a true rugby experience, like they do with the haka they should involve all the pre-match rituals (siva tau, waltzing matilda, etc.)

Why would you want 2 games? why not just make one great game!

I beleive Rugby 2010 is gonna be a great game but trying to cram everything into one game is slightly a bad idea

Hardly. Fifa manage it easily (they could easily put the world cup into Fifa 10/as DLC, but didn't as, i presume, it'll make them a shed load of cash as people will fork out £40 for it now)

FIFA is a totally different kettle of fish, the differences in that comparison are ridiculous

CPU vs CPU Feature

Yes i request for this feature. I bet your thinking your mad why would you want a feature like that, the reason for it is that, ive been wanting to do a E fed via Justin.tv and i see a lot of E Feds where they do Smackdown vs Raw 2010 and have CPU's battle it out with each viewers characters on the stream giving the feeling their part of the show similer to watching WWF. The reason i want a CPU vs CPU feature is because i want to start a E fed based on rugby, where each viewer will be a player of a team of their choosing or may be recruited by scouts, also if there be a create a player feature similer or better to what EA Rugby 08 had then all the better.

A cpu vs cpu feature would also be nice for just siting back and watching the computer play a match as you munch your food :)
