I know. My Great Uncle and his wife and kids who are South African never shut up about him.

The point about Varndell is that he's pretty much the same pace but in his socks! Plus, Varndell is a big lad, 6'4 and 106kg.[/b]

lol. I don't think Spies can really do that. Varndell is much faster than him.

Who cares. Chabal can do the 100m in 8.8 seconds.

Underwater.[/b]

Speed over 100m stands for very little. Speed over <40m is the key...essentially it's a battle of acceleration.

When did Spies run 10.7? I'm guessing when he was a skinny teenager?[/b]

He was always massive. When i played against him, i was 18, and he played wing for his school team. Kinda weird thinking i tackled him, and ran on the same field as him... Anyway, he was huge at that age, and still holds the 100m record for his school. He also scored 3 tries against us that day. Always knew he would play for the Springboks one day.

With talk like that you and Greenwood would make a good team

That croft certainly did look impressive against the lions. I'd like to see how he does in a game with stiffer opposition though. God I cannot wait for the tests!

Gayness aside, I think The Lions are more than capable of shutting out Spies. The main concern for the Lions back row will be Juan Smith. Schalk Burger is ****, and will be sin binned in every game anyway.

Ferris hasn't been mentioned for a while in this thread, so I thought i'd just interject and remind everyone how awesome he is. Ok thanks.

Yes - Ferris and Williams v Croft and Wallace.

I wonder if Williams is really in the picture - he's too small to handle the Saffers.

Just get him to stand next to Mears all the time and he will look 7ft tall, which is why I am leaning towards Ford for test hooker.

Thought Mears was fantastic in the last game. Played like a scrumhalf/hooker/openside for a lot of it.

He was the link man that Williams is meant to be. Did it brilliantly.

Just watched a clip of the S14 final, Pierre Spies' try was something else, he really can go some!
