The Movie Thread

I didn't know the world needed a remake of The Naked Gun, but at this moment I'm somewhat intrigued.

Just no! Sorry, Liam neeson is a good serious/ action actor. But comedy acting is different. Even Steve Martin couldn't replace Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther.

Steve Martin could never replace Phil Silvers as Sgt Bilko either, but they still cast him.

I'm just sceptical about it working. Another remake of a classic. Will it add to the legacy of the films or just yet again shows Hollywood has run out of ideas. Neeson as Frank Drebin Jnr and the Guy who played Stingray in Cobrai Kai tv series as his partner's son - groan!

Don't forget Naked gun was borne out of Police squad tv series so Leslie Nielsen had form before Airplane until they made movies.

Issue with remakes is that it's a very fine line to tread. Can't just remake the original because then it will have nothing new and will just be compared to the original. On the other hand you can't go too far away because then people will say it's not like the original. Tbh I don't think they'll get the balance right and will probably go too far away from the original.

Seth MacFarlane and Akiva Schaffer being the producer/director gives me some hope as they're both very experienced in comedy and will have a lot of respect for the originals/won't bend to external pressure to make it something they're not on board with

Just watched Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Not as good as Fury Road (though not many movies are, IMO), but still a very good action film and I liked the expansion on the lore of the wasteland

i watched that a couple of weeks go...the first 3rd felt different to the rest for me, maybe was a late change in script or re shot or all in my head....but i almost stopped watching as felt a little "made for TV" (see the startship trooper sequels) ...but then it came right

Watched Con Air for the first time and it was a bit of an endurance test. I seem to have a lot less patience for Nicholas Cage, endless set pieces over 2 hours, plot points that make less sense than a monkey on trombone and non stop explosions than I used to. And the script is hokey as ****. Malkovich was good though.

Trying to watch Tenet and after 45 minutes I am both baffled and struggling to maintain my attention

Is it worth persevering with? I've taken a short break for now.
