Pleased to get Williams tbh, although it doesn't feel like a long term solution - if he does well, he'll be off to Wales for a central contact (that he hasn't gone to Wales instead of Glocs is the only real surprise in all this).

Kind of depends on whether he wants to play at 10 or 12. Now Wales have Sam Davies to add to Biggar, Priestland and Patchell, he might struggle to make it as a 10. On the other hand, Roberts is definitely on the wane, so he could may be in with a reasonable shout of test recognition as a 12?
Williams wants to play 10 1000% sure on that.
Don't forget Calum Chick, Englands U20 World Cup winning captain..whos already making a big impression in the Newcastle 1st XV

I have never seen him play but he sounds full of potential. I was just thinking though he's under HUGE hype from everywhere and I hope all this doesn't hurt the lad and he's allowed to just get on with his game and progression.
Ironically in Wales hes kind of out of the spotlight from all the England fans...but at Bath he'll be under quite intensive pressure to perform with all this hype.

Yep, I like that he's experienced rugby elsewhere & has continued his education. Wish more would do likewise. I don't think many of us English fans have actually seen much of him, but what I have seen I've liked. A no nonsense kiwi ex back rower is probably the best hands he could be in as he continues to learn his craft.

Choice (in some positions) is actually one of the big challenges facing Jones. The RWC is 2 years away. By the AIs I would hope that the majority of our team will be inked in to start in Japan. It's not about selecting the best players at any time, but about choosing your men, backing them and getting the experience and cohesion that only comes with time and familiarity. Of course we want strength in depth, but it can be a double edged sword.

Three years away, effectively. Yup spot on. Assuming a squad of what, 32(?) you probably want 45 players who have experience of the set up and game plan to cover all possible injuries. Anything beyond that is wasted caps.

I wouldn't say that choice is the issue as such. It's more about ensuring that the players that aren't going to make it to Japan are transitioned out in such a way that their successors have enough meaningful test experience to go in to the World Cup without being too callow.
We really need to be identifying the players who are going to be succeeding the likes of Robshaw and Haskell now and building their test experience over the next 2.5 years. I'm not suggesting that this is done overnight. However, considering that there are only 10 or so games per year, these guys are unlikely to be going to the World Cup with much more than 15-20 caps.
It's not just us - the same applies to any test side really.
Anyway - we're well off topic now, so I'm going to shut up.

Very good signing, I'd say he's about as good as a player can get without being unavailable during international windows

Kvesic playing out of his skin before this season, and wasn't picked. (Despite pundits praising him)
I just can't see that changing even at Exeter, although playing champions cup rugby and challenging for play-offs will help his exposure.

Maybe he'll improve his game enough to warrant a EPS spot. But then I'm sure you the much talked about underhill will be tearing up trees by then.

Kvesic is (potentially) world class, IMO.
His non-promotion under Lancaster is still one of the most mysterious situations I've witnessed in the sport.

I'm a fan of Kev and think he could be a very good player internationally. But I don't think he has the athleticism to become world class. He has neither the speed like Tipuric, nor the power like Pocock.
He hasn't had a great season for Gloucester, losing out his first-choice spot to Jacob Rowan; a change of scene will probably bring out his better side again.

I think you're being naive if you don't think that's partly down to his move. I'm fairly confident this would have been sorted before the season - when Kev was being coached by Hepher with the Saxons.
That and (again) not being selected by England is easily enough to demoralise a player.
