Duffy to Ulster is rubbish. He signed a 1 year extention. Taylor from the Reds if confirmed would be a good signing. I would like to see someone like Justin Fairbanks or De Det Barry come to us even if it is very unlikely to hapen.

Moldoon is out until mid october with a broken arm.

I think the IRFU should give connaught a bit of cash to purshase Justin Fairbanks or De Wet Barry one ove these players could bring light to the backline as they are playmakers who have no future in their countries. Connaught don't needan other forward maybe a n°8 like Clever but that's it.

From Roscommon and he still can't spell Connacht ;)

Clever would have been a good signing, he is gone to Japan though.

Connacht should get equal funding to the other provinces in all fairness, which would make them more competitive. Do the IRFU want them in the HEC at the expense of one of the other provinces? I'm not too sure.

The IRFU have funded a new backs coach, a new video analyst and a new defence coach for Connacht. Unless Connacht can pull more fans through the gate the IRFU would be throwing money down the drain by giving Connacht handouts. Admittedly the 1 year contract debacle isn't helping their recruitment though.

On a related note, Ulster are set for a big handout from thr NI assembly. £15m to £20m which was earmarked for the Maze Stadium is being redirected to Ulster Rugby. It'll probably fund the upgrade of Ravenhill but some money will likely be left over to improve their squad. I think Ulster are on the verge of challenging for major honours over the next few years given their new found wealth and solid core of home grown players.

I disagree, with investment comes success, with success comes support. At least give them a fair shot at it.

Have Connacht improved at all over the last, say, 5 years to merit an increase in funding? Off the field they're doing a poor job attracting additional supporters. On the field they regularly capitulate. I won't argue that they've a weak squad but too often they roll over and don't put up a fight away from home. If Eric Elwood's regime can boost performances on the field, by all means give Connacht a helping hand in 12 months time. They have to earn their keep and not expect an IRFU bailout to get them off the ground.

Back on topic, some on the LF.com think Daniel Browne may be moving to Leinster. He recently secured a release from his contract with Bath.

Last person you want is Browne, the boy is trouble.

Some good news in relation to Bristol

Iain Greive will captain in 2010-2011. Also confirmed as staying are : Roy Winters, Darren Crompton, Mark Irish, Wayne Thompson, Jack Adams, Robbie Shaw, Dan Norton, James Merriman, Chris Ashwin, Jamie Miller and Sam Alford.

Others still to confirm but I expect that the other Arscott, Jarvis, Spice to be 3 more to leave but from here we can begin to get players in. Still no word on weather or not early signings will still join. Dunno if anyone from Bath knows if Little will be joining us or has he changed his mind.

Phew!

Normally the Evening Post here brings stories of woe (written by our, convicted drink driving, shamless hater of Bristol City FC and general rubbish journalism-ness, cheif sports writer) but that has pleased me. Good on ya Nicky.

Realistically who else would sign him? Aironi and Treviso probably had a look and decided against it, so he's got no other choice.

Oh, the cynic in me.
