As for Cowan himself - why? just... why?

He's not as good as Louw (or Faletau, or Garvey); whilst being all of 1 year younger, and missing more matches to internationals.
Of course, there's also the side issue that we don't particularly need another backrower (though an upgrade on GMercer would be handy); whilst we desperately need a new Centre; and could do with a new THP and Wing/FB

Worked for Ashton, always thought the reason he did so well at the start of his England career was due to him being able to properly develop his game in the Championship before he stepped up to the Prem. That said I think he did have a season where he mostly played for their second string, potentially the first season they got back into the Prem?

Seems an odd choice to me. What's with the obsession with back rows? At least he's not another 8 I guess.

More to the point - a MFord favourite who's considered to be overpaid at Bath.

However, I still can't see Bath thinking "Hmmm, we have 1 IC for next season*, and no coach to scout and negotiate with someone new - let's get rid".
I think the same of all current rumours for players leaving Bath, but Kyle especially, as there's absolutely no-one to step in.

Either we have a head coach working for us, but not announced yet, and conducting negotiations; or we refuse to release any player from contracts at this moment in time.


ETA* Oh yeah, sorry; we also have Dan Bowden - so that's 2 injury ravaged ICs, along with a couple who can do a job in an emergency - not play there for a full season.
