True, but if you look at that quins back row, we are gonna have to get more young players in at some point soon... We can maintain for a couple more years but we are gonna need to strengthen youth long term...
First Choice - Robshaw (31) Luamanu (29) Clifford (25)
Second Choice - Chisholm (22) Bothma (28) Wallace (27)
Most are late 20s... not exactly building for the future
I don’t think Luamanu is anywhere near first choice. Chisholm and Bothma are ahead of him, they’ve just been unavailable.
I agree we need to plan for the future (which is why I’d be targeting Lewis Ludlam if Saints continue to ignore him) but John Hardie is an ideal signing IMO. He’s available. He’s a test class player who probably won’t be selected. He’s an upgrade on Wallace and at 30 he’s hardly over the hill. He’s also got a point to prove after his ban which hopefully means he’d be motivated to perform to a standard where he could have an outside chance of being recalled by Scotland.
Also, when it comes to high potential young players, it’s very rare teams let them go unless they’re relegated. See the current raid on London Irish’s best youngsters.
