Couldn't agree more. As a Saints fan it pains me to admit that we probably won't win silverware this year, but certainly in the next few seasons (providing Mallinder stays and doesn't go for the England spot!!).

I'm sure C.ASHton has thought about his move delicately, and I'm sure he'll love chasing the Saracens kicks as much as he loves chasing pay checks. (Not bitter much :P)
This is a fact - The real winners in this deal are the Saints, they have good enough wingers and well it frees up alot of salary cap. Add in Ashton has been OK at best this season and wait to see him next season - He will be average at best ;)

Apparently Robbie Diack's been listening to some Village People, if you get what I mean...

The board hardly chucked Hook out, they offered him their biggest ever deal, whilst Phillips and Byrne were both playing terribly during their final season and a half at the Ospreys
They did refuse to play him at 10, though. And I'm not disagreeing with chucking Phillips and Byrne, as I'd have done the same thing if I had two big-name players playing so rarely and so poorly for me. Just don't want Adam to go. I'd lose the entire rest of the First XV before I lost Adam.

Billy Twelvetrees to Gloucester, and I believe Narraway will be staying. Northampton have made an offer but I dont think he wants to leave Gloucester

Alesana Tuilagi is linked with a move to Japan by the Leicester Mercury. The same paper says Graham Kitchener could be off to London Irish and neither Horacio Agulla nor Jeremy Staunton will be given new contracts.

I wonder if Agulla's contract has anything to do with the 4N?
Staunton going is no surprise, but Kitchener is - then again, he's played nothing like he did at Worcester, so a move might do him some good.

Potentially Glos could be putting out an all-english backline next year:
9. Lewis (Lawson out of contract) 10. Burns 11. JSD 12. 12T 13. Trinder 14. Sharples 15. Morgan

I recommend they keep Lawson, but the outside backs look really good if they can keep them together, in my opinion Gloucester are just one big overseas signing from being a really good side again
I think you're right as far as our backline goes, we've got quality and enough depth to get through long seasons/international call-ups, but we've got a bit of work in the forwards to do. We haven't got any hookers contracted past this summer, we need to tie down Narraway or at least get in someone of a similar stature to replace him, we need another lineout technician (preferrably a lock, since we don't have many) and hopefully a "marquee signing" at 6, then some depth.

The Irish Daily Mail says Steven Sykes has been granted an early release from his Leinster contract and is returning to South Africa for personal reasons. It's rumoured that he's rejoining the Sharks.

Also, the fact that he only played about 3 times all season would make him a pretty poor piece of business regardless of anything off the field. He was pretty muck in those games too.
