Earls shoul be put back on wing.
Nice to see Toulouse getting McAlastair and Bullitt reports on paper this morning that Saints are watching some Rugby League guys and believe they can find another Ashton.
Could be interesting as Mallinder has good eye for talent

I Don't think Downey would be a great option at 12 for Munster. I would rather Munster have a creative 12 that can get the ball out to Earls and Howlett on the wing. They are both very strong runners and Munster should use them in space more. I Don't mind a crash and bash 13 but I think a creative 12 is what Munster need. I would rather see Keatley at 12 and Downey at 13.

Just wondering wer Alix Popham, CA Brive's ex-Scarlets,Dragons and Leeds back row.
He's apparently levin CA Brive after his contract runs out in the summer
Will he cum bac 2 wales or go to a Pro D2 (french 2 division), or at a long shot even england

I have heard Tigers, Scarlets, and even returning to Newport. (He played for Newport RFC previously, but not the Dragons)

Sale have poached a real diamond in Bunny, I'm still adamant he's better then his brother.

Gawd knows what's going on at Saints, all the players seem to be knackered, fed up & leaving (Bunny, Day, Downey etc.) or starring for England. Seems to be nobody who's just getting on with it, only the extremes.

Carl Fearns and Charlie Beech sign for Bath on 2 and 3 year contracts

BRB, going for a cry
That's Lund, Foden and Fearns now who we've lost just as they've started to get properly good :(

Also Christian Day - Wigglesworth looks to have improved at Sarries as well

Kris Chesney signed for Sale too

God knows why, he's like 460yrs old and we've got enough locks/back rows (with Easter and the Leeds player coming)

We really need to sign some backs,
We've signed two props, two locks and a backrow,
Lost 1x Backrow and 1x Prop (with Chris Jones rumoured to be off)

But we've lost a flyhalf, two centres and a wing without replacement

Sale will be in trouble next season unless they pull a couple of big signings out of the bag. A geriatric 2nd row, prop who can't scrummage, journeyman hooker, semi pro prop and premiership squad player of a number 8 don't read like good signings. Factor in Fearns, Hodgson, Bell, Lewis-Roberts, Wihongi and Jones leaving and you can see the bones of a **** poor squad remaining.

I'd hope they'll get a big name soon, there's another announcement tomorrow (they said 4 new players, two announced today and the Moldovan prop announced-but-not-officially-yet)
If we get a SH player it'll be a summer signing when they know whether they'll be in their countrys WC squad or not - can't think of any NH players that would take the step down to us - Maybe if Leeds or Newcastle had a few big names who could be tempted to jump ship to another basement dweller, but we're not going to be bringing Ben Foden back, or tempting Manu Tuilagi to join his brother here...

They got their back...

Sale sign centre from Clermont
09 March 2011 07:05

To Stockport: Tasesa Lavea
Sale Sharks have announced the signing of Tasesa Lavea from Top 14 champions ASM Clermont Auvergne.

New Zealand born, of Samoan descent, Tasesa is a goal-kicking fly-half who can also play centre and has signed a two-year contract in Stockport.

Tasesa played for the Chiefs for two seasons from 2007 before joining Clermont where he was a member of their Championship-winning side last season. He has also played for the Blues.

Tasesa has represented New Zealand at Rugby League and in November 2000 broke Henry Paul's Kiwi record by scoring 32 points in an international game.

In November 2010 he was called up by the Samoan National Team for the November Internationals.

"This is an excellent capture for Sale Sharks. Tasesa is a quality act and he will fit in perfectly with my plans for next season," said Executive Director of Sport Steve Diamond, speaking to the club's website.

Tasesa joins recent signings Kris Chesney, Mark Easter, Kearnan Myall, Joe Ward and Tony Buckley in readiness for the 2011/12 season, with more signings and re-signings due to be announced very soon.

"Having played a lot of top level rugby in the Southern Hemisphere and in the past two years experiencing success in the Top 14 with Clermont, it is a fantastic opportunity for me to experience another tough, world class competition with Sale Sharks," said Tasesa.

"I like the fact that the club is making changes and want a fresh start and it is exactly the type of challenge I am looking for."
Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

I.....don't know who that is.
and I even know who he is, so that makes it even stranger (about a month ago a clermont player put a picture on his twitter of Lavea and Jason White with the caption 'The Past and the Future of Sale Sharks')

Sad thing was, he played well for the Chiefs (I'm sure he was only with them for one year...), looked really promising, then had a strong season for Counties, after which he was snapped up (again) by the Blues, and proceeded to play like ****.
