Union vs League Balls...Is there a difference?

Rugby League has never been played with a ball like that in the SH, so it is generally a bit weird to me that Gilbert would design a ball so different to the norm (the old leather balls were not at all like that). It also looks less conducive to passing being so round... but I'm not sure cause I've never used one before.

lol that thing just looks so wrong!! i rarely watch league but i happened to flick over on the weekend and the sh ball made by steeden is noticeably thinner than a union ball.

i've never kicked a league ball, but i want to now to see how it behaves in comparions
