USA news & politics

He and Watters are absolutely vile individuals. I wonder if he will get sacked like the MSNBC host or not, I think we both know the answer.

Why would Gutfeld be fired for this?

No idea about the Waters situation, but im confident that the Huffpost arent being honest lol.

Its almost like this thread is sponsored by the Huffpost hahahaha

For the same reason the MSNBC host got fired. He's belittling the assassination of a state legislator and very actively fanning the flames in an already very tense situation.

You are confident that they aren't being honest when videos of them saying exactly what they are quoted as saying are right there? Surprise surprise, Harry being the contrarian again. You just can't help yourself can you? You just HAVE to put yourself in opposition all the time.

Honestly, grow up. You're tedious.

I disagree with that, hes making 2 points:

1. She wasnt as popular or widely well known as Charlie Kirk

2. Republicans and their supporters werent demonising her specifically as a fascist daily, people werent protesting her going places, threatening her life, and she wasnt as ingrained in the culture war as Kirk was.

Its not contrarian to call you out when you make false examples, Dowd blamed Kirk for the shooting, and attacked free thought and speech as it leads to violence, while Kirk was fighting for his life (well at least in the publics view).

Had Gufeld said what he said here, and yes I disagree with him partly, as the news was breaking about the murders, and if he had called her a nobody, or used any issue she stood for as a reasoning for her death, I would agree with you...

You can complain about me countering you, but I only counter you when your wrong, I agree, and like some points you make, but when it comes to Trump and the culture war, you just dont have the ability to be rational it seems, like most here.

And for the record, of you and I, im willing to bet id go to bat for more of the 1200 or so who have lost their jobs so far, im the free speech advocate here.

I dont think Dowd deserved to lose his job, he said an insensitive thing at a sensitive time, he should have been reprimanded of course, but firing is too harsh, but then id say the same about Lucy Connolly.

1. Popularity isn't exactly important when talking about politically motivated murder. Arguably murdering people who are actually in politics is a bigger danger than murdering people who are popular essentially as a streamer or in a movement.
2. What does it matter if they weren't demonising her specifically? They were demonising her party.

This also ignores that Gutfeld again portrayed it as a left only issue, immediately and aggressively shouted down an example of a right wing assassination and doubled down on his original claim. There is more than just that one, for example anyone want to claim that nobody had heard of the Pelosis? How about Josh Shapiros, Pennsylvania's governor's house being firebombed? The attempt to kidnap Gretchen Whitmer, Michigan's governor? These aren't attacks on a bunch of nobodies, these were targeted attacks against fairly prominent Democratic politicians, all brushed under the carpet by Gutfeld and Watters as they continue to fan the flames and act like the right are exclusively the victims. They whinge about the rhetoric whilst being up there are some of the worst for it, and continuing to be so.

1. I never said ir was. I said thats what Gutfeld said, why would he be sacked for making that point right or wrongly? Its not comparable to sayong Kirk deserved it during him fighting for his life.

2. The point matters because Kirk was called a Nazi daily, online and media use terminology specifically against him personally. Would you like to have a little wager in which one of them received more negative media attention, or which side was radicalised to action against either individual.

You have to listen when I reply, I literally said above I disagree with parts of what Gutfeld says, my intention isnt to debate how accurate he is, what im saying is why should he be sacked for what he said?

Nothing Gutfeld says in that video is cause for sacking, he makes 2 accurate distinctions, before going on a one sided bias rant victimising Republicans...

Do you think Omar and Mehdi should be sacked for their discussion of Kirk also?

He could also have said "yeah but she was a woman", that factual statement has no bearing on the point being discussed. I'm sure the vast majority of politicians have less name awareness than many celebrities, that has no impact on the seriousness of it if they are assassinated.

And yet the lawmakers were killed despite not being called Nazis directly, only indirectly through their party. In fact the majority of attempted assassination and political violence are against people with little recognition and who aren't directly called Nazis, so it's a massive red herring.

Nothing is a cause for sacking, other than belittling other victims of assassination, denying any role of the right and then spewing out similar rhetoric to what they claim is causing the problem... He essentially said that the example given of an assassination of a left wing politician doesn't matter because they weren't popular enough. Guess what, the vast majority of people aren't popular or well known, so by that logic the vast majority of people can be assassinated and it doesn't matter.

The right wing pretending they aren't involved in this sort of rhetoric and aren't carrying out this violence is every bit as bad as the left saying Kirk deserved it.

Ok take a breathe, you just made an incredibly sexist statement, that Hortman was lesser because shes a woman, im not sure why.

The question is should Gutfeld be fired for saying she was unknown, and her murder or their murder wasnt directly involving Republicans dehumanising them. I say no, because those two statements are factual, and little to no comparison can be made between them and Kirk.

Your also forgetting hes making the claim that the murder knew the victims, but thats a whole new debate on motives.

Your final point im constantly agreeing with, they are both as bad as each other, so id like you to keep that in mind the next time theres a Democrat killing, or attempt on their life, so when you are up in arms I'll give you the caveat.

And this is where I get frustrated, you and other team pickers here, will absolutely go hysterical when Democrats are the victims of such, but absolutely lambast the Republicans as just as bad, or even blame them for being angry for when they are victims of something, you will fight on behalf of the Democrats regardless.

At least my stance is honest, theyre both a bunch of scumbags, i dont pretend theyre not.

I do find it annoying that even social media people with million of followers are somehow comparable to the POTUS. This is just crazy to me. Trump is the most influential, powerful person in the world. If you could pick one person who could actually dial down the temperature it would be Trump. All he would have to do is stop speaking crazy. Speak like Biden, Obama or Clinton do. Dont effectively say there's no such thing as right wing extremists, don't encourage people to take vengeance for Kirk because you can't do it at the ballot box because the elections are rigged. This is all unhinged behaviour FOR THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

I think you misread the sexist comment bit bud. Read it again, that’s not the point he’s making.

Also, you know you’re lost when Fox News hosts are trying to get you to be reasonable. This is the network, by the way, that lost the biggest media defamation case in history for pumping out Trump lies about the election.
