Your team's greatest XV - from the Heineken Cup era / Super Rugby era

Cardiff Blues: Im going to do from 2001/2002 onwards, because I can only judge fairly based from here on. Obviously, years before had much better players most likely.

1. Gethin Jenkins
2. Gareth Williams (Hard to choose, not our best area in terms of good players)
3. Dai Young
4. Bradley Davies
5. Paul ***o
6. Maama Molitika
7. Sam Warburton/ Martyn Williams
8. Xavier Rush
9. Mike Phillips
10. Nicky Robinson
11. Jonah Lomu
12. Jamie Roberts
13. Casey Laulala
14. Leigh Halfpenny
15. Ben Blair
Oooohhhh deeeeeeaarrrr!

11. Jonah Lomu

I agree the Blues have not had much good hookers since 2000, maybe Jonathan Humphreys ahead of Williams perhaps?

Howley and Jenkins should be half back combination

Lomu was fat with the Blues, Gareth Thomas ahead maybe

Bristol Heineken Cup era:

1. Andrew Sheridan
2. Mark Regan
3. Julian White
4. Simon Shaw
5. Gareth Llewellyn
6. Matt Salter
7. Martin Corry
8. Dan Ward-Smith (got to have him)

9. Agustin Pichot
10. Felipe Contepomi
11. David Lemi
12. Manu Contepomi / Rob Higgitt
13. Daryl Gibson
14. Phil Christophers
15. Shane Drahm / Bernardo Stortoni

Pretty decent in the past!

Drahm? No, had one or two decent game but Lee Best/Marsden and Bernard were far beter. Would rather see Jason Little in at 12.

how about this for a Bristol side

15. Bernardo Stortoni
14. Phil Christophers
13. Daryl Gibson
12. Jason Little
11. David Lemi (phenomenal amount of tries for Bristol thorughout last Premiership run)
10. Felipe Contepomi (holds record for most points in match for Bristol)
9. Agustín Pichot (listed as a legend on official site)
1. Dave Hilton
2. Mark Regan (listed as a legend on official site)
3. Darren Crompton (more liked at Bristol than Julian White who did everything in his power to leave)
4. Garath Archer
5. Roy Winters (still winning player of the month awards for them aged 36)
6. Matt Salter (listed as a legend on official site)
7. Joe El Abd (can't think of anybody better, decent in Bristol's semi final run in 2006/07)
8. Dan Ward-Smith (can't think of anybody better)

Yep, pretty much agree with all that, you forget the amount of bloody good players we have had play for us. Andrew Sheridan, Henry Honnibal, Robert Jones, Arwel Thomas, Frank Bunce, The Chiropractor, Lewsey, etc

Shakey was only any good as an outhalf anyway, then it was only the "descent enough backup" player instead of a club icon.

He was a brilliant player. One of my favorites when he was at Leinster.

Montgomery over Joubert is a tough call. Monty was a class player, but Joubert a true legend.
Lambie has had an excellent two seasons, but it would be unfair to forget Honiball yet. Agree with everything else.

I needed someone at 13, Joubert was my only option, leaving Prince Charming at full-back. Honniball was good, but Lambie is a more versatile player

Stefan did have some excellent moments, but not always at 13. Honiball was a great runner ball in hand. The 1996 Currie Cup final highlights are on Youtube. Honiball and Joubert in full flight.
Monty is a Natal and Newport legend (along with Teichmann).
Bobby Skinstad not so much ;)

Agree with most of this, but I think Butch James should be flyhalf given his experience with the side. Lambie is quality, but it's a little to early I think to be in any all XV team. Was also never a big fan of Le Roux, but i would probably contradicting myself if I said the Beast should be there instead. It's such a shame players like Hugh Reece-Edwards and Brent Russell miss out, we have just had so many good players in those positions.

I agree with 90% of this team, the core of it being the side that got to the 2009 Heineken Cup semi final and won the EDF Cup, that was probably the Blues best season in regional rugby

only a couple of things:

how good was Dan Baugh? I don't remember much, but I've heard he was quite injury prone, is he better than Molitika at his best?

and also do you think Gareth Thomas deserves consideration?

Baugh was nuts, out and out a hard nose tackler and a real enforcer. Injuries ruined his career but when he was fit he was fantastic.

As for Gareth ... Ye he was good and I forgot to mention him probably slot in at 11 for me.
