A Political Thread pt. 2

I know you guys hate this but seeing the way Corbyn has behaved recently it could have been so much worse.

Not that high of a bar regardless
I'd check back, I disliked Corbyn and didn't trust him on international affairs in the slightest (Brexit being included in that). It was by far his worst trait, he got a pass on being vastly better domestically (IMO) than any Tory would ever be.

I like that the right still run with Corbyn being a Russian asset despite the Tory's having huge amounts of money funnelled into them by Russians

Completely normal behaviour, I'm sure

Realistically it should have been Ed Milliband, anyway - that bacon sandwich photo was the beginning of the end for this country

Oh the Russian thing is nonsense but you only have to look Stop the War coalition and his history with this kind of thing and position to know he'd of done **** all as well. Just he wouldn't of been paid to do it.

Jesus:eek:
So, Putin announced a "special operation" and surgical strikes to military objects near: Kharkov, Kramatorsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Mariupol.
Also (translated quote, so mistakes are possible):
The blow was struck at the ammunition depots of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Kharkov.

The ships of the Ukrainian Navy were destroyed or rendered unusable. At the same time, Ukrainian ports in the Black and Azov Seas were blocked. Obviously, a detachment of large landing ships, which was assembled in the Black Sea, was used for this.

Media reports about explosions at the Kiev airfield Boryspil. It was this airfield that received aircraft with NATO weapons.

My Dad told me EXACTLY the same a week ago, when I was asking him about tanks etc invasion/noninvasion, he told me "no,no tanks, this will be a Syrian scenario: surgical strikes to Ukrainian military objects" and I thought he just didn't understand anything and what was he talking about...damn, he was right:eek: maybe I have to ask him more.
Trying to call my relatives who live in Western Ukraine ..my grandmother, my 3 aunts, their families, and my uncle live in Ternopol and Lvov. Will write if there are some news :eek:

IDK I feel that David was the more electable of the two tbh always felt that was the beginning

I hope your family stay safe.

Ed went for the job like 8-10 too early he's grown in statue a lot in the wilderness year. The sandwich goes on but in reality it made little difference he never aired any particular sense of authority or vision. Cameron was also considered a likeable leader at that stage and the cuts weren't being felt by most, his stock majorly decreased with Brexit but most leaders would struggle against first term party in governement unless they completely ****** it.

So Ukraine is being bombed and you're trying to score cheap political points.

I don't actually disagree, Corbyn probably would have been worse on this, but is now really the time to bring it up? It's honestly pathetic.

I mean TBF people try and score cheap political points on anything.

And tbh how isn’t it the time? It’s prob one of the biggest political problems of this era.

How could Corbyn have done worse, considering BoJo has done literally nothing? (sanctioned a couple of banks that don't operate in the UK and a couple of individuals that are already under sanctions from the US)

Make it sound like he'd be on the front lines with an AK screaming for the return of the USSR

At least we've got a united front at the mo in reg to NATO and sanctions.

Corbyn et Al have characterised NATO as the aggressor in all of this.

It's not "cheap political points" when the fool is still spouting his nonsense in the Commons - it's a very real thing

Sad thing is China has been conspicuously silent on this. Putin would never try this unless he has their implicit backing and economically speaking with finance controls.

The erosion of The West’s power - specifically the divisions/weakening of the USA, Brexit and Merkel leaving office. Putin has just been biding his time for the right moment IMO.

I agree on the surface as to our current sanctions package - worth noting tho that the various stages were discussed with allies so I'm holding out hope there is a larger, coordinated plan between allies here.

We shall see today I imagine
We shall see but our first set of sanctions was weak compared to others. Maybe the west will finally react and stop pussy footing around but I don't hold out hope. Years of selfishness have made us unwilling to take the necessary actions if it means we also must face some hardship as a result.

Putin will get his Sudetenland.

You'd have thought they'd be pretty anti-what-Russia-is-doing considering they have multiple territories that would want to follow the Ukrainian separatist regions and break away (Tibet, Taiwan etc.)
It did look, a few days ago, that they were telling Russia to chill out but then news today is saying that they're going to help Russia manage against western sanctions (though that could just be because they can see monetary gain from that)
