Being a *** is pretty closely aligned with being a boundary pusher in any industry tbf, whether that's science, tech, music or whatever.

First off guys lets be clear all Musk is, is a guy with money who's Dad owned a emerald Mine. He hasn't actually made or designed anything in his life he invests his money and other guys with the actual vision make the stuff. Its a really perverse way of looking at things that the guy who has money is seen as visionary but the guy actually designing and building the thing isn't. Musk is a great self promoter and does invest his money in good areas but I don't seen him as a visionary.

Secondly being an arsehole in business is rapidly becoming intolerable people think they need to be arseholes but what you actually get is a demotivated workforce that leaves to work for better places. I don't know many decent engineers who put up with working for shite bosses anymore they'll move on and go work for some other guy who'll respect them.

He is capable of doing the right thing, so I wish he would more often. He's driven by ego. The example I mentioned, he didn't want to do the right thing because he cared about the people, he wanted to do the right thing so he could be a hero. It was fundamentally selfish. When denied that chance, he became vicious and didn't give a damn about supporting the rescue, he instead started attacking it.

He also isn't the self made man he pretends he is, he came from a wealthy background.

I am not sure ultimately that would work. We saw how the European Super league worked out and that was with the richest clubs in Europe on board (bar Bayern). Football whoever it is governed will eventually be tainted by corruption IMO. The internal workings of FIFA have needed major reform for yonks. Replacing Blatter with another in Infantino hasn’t worked.

The EU/EC have come out with a strong response in the last 24hrs. Russians cut off SWIFT, €450m to Russian arms and another €50m to non lethal supplies.

Von Der Leyen isn't as good as her predecessor but generally gets things right after a few days to consider, hopefully she gets more efficient in time.

Ireland opted out of weapons funding but funded the non-lethal element. Friend of NATO but we're not fighting. We'd literally add next to nothing in a war so a strategic outpost to quietly funnel supplies and troops through is probably the best use of Ireland for everyone.
