The Ukraine War thread


These arguments for me are ridiculous because it assumes that Putin won't just invade again under some other pre-text.

2008 Invasion of Georgia
2014 Invasion of Ukraine in Crimea
2022 Invasion of Ukraine as a whole.

That also doesn't include supporting violent separatist movements in other countries too.

There is absolutely no point proceeding with any peace deal unless Ukraine has some kind of strong guarantee that Russia won't just come back. I guess in an ideal scenario, membership of NATO and the EU to force Europe to defend it.
 
Full NATO membership and support (sans the US, because that's gone to ****) seems like the only route for Ukraine outside of pure attrition over another 3+ years.

(I am well aware of my ignorance in this matter, just providing a point of view)
 
I thought ceasefires were normally agreed bilaterally. Putin is just unilaterally dictating when they should happen and then putting the onus on Ukraine to dance to his tune.
