The Ukraine War thread

Another issue is, if he abandons Ukraine and the minerals then that puts Greenland squarely back in his sights again.

These arguments for me are ridiculous because it assumes that Putin won't just invade again under some other pre-text.

2008 Invasion of Georgia
2014 Invasion of Ukraine in Crimea
2022 Invasion of Ukraine as a whole.

That also doesn't include supporting violent separatist movements in other countries too.

There is absolutely no point proceeding with any peace deal unless Ukraine has some kind of strong guarantee that Russia won't just come back. I guess in an ideal scenario, membership of NATO and the EU to force Europe to defend it.

Full NATO membership and support (sans the US, because that's gone to ****) seems like the only route for Ukraine outside of pure attrition over another 3+ years.

(I am well aware of my ignorance in this matter, just providing a point of view)

Only because he spoke to Zelenskyy today, without any attack dogs to get in his ear.
He'll reverse track again when he gets home and Putin, Vance or MTG have a chat
No no no, it's 4D chess. He's a genius, not a moron who is swayed by whoever he last spoke to.

I thought ceasefires were normally agreed bilaterally. Putin is just unilaterally dictating when they should happen and then putting the onus on Ukraine to dance to his tune.
