The influence Israel has over US politics is ridiculous and so out of proportion to their relative power on the world stage.
Americans being convinced that they must do everything they can to assist Israel and that it's gods will they do so it's the single most successful piece of propaganda spread through that country (maybe competing with the idea that trickle down economics works).
I believe in the late 19th century when there were a load of pogroms in Russia you had about 2 million Jews who ****** off to America as there weren’t really many safe places for them (until America shut its doors to them in I can’t remember when exactly but think it was early 20th century) so that’s why there’s a load of them there. I agree it’s very small and they wield a lot of influence relative to their size but then there’s a fair few that have worked themselves into very influential positions so not surprising really.
I think it’s changing though, I think Isreal has always been thought of positively amongst traditional republican voters (and even many Dems) but as we’ve seen with a shift in other attitudes I think there’s maybe more negative feelings as there’s an overriding priority for isolationism but that’s just a feeling I have rather than anything more than that.
