Side note - Having just been to Canada. The amount of big trucks is still staggering. I think North America is way off moving away from fossil fuels. It would probably be political suicide to force the move to EV's. The driving distances and infrastructure just isn't there yet.

It's expensive and pointless. Mars is a very hostile environment that doesn't support human life. Why go there?

what i have heard lots of time before about, most recently when DOGE defunded studies they didn't understand, is its not necessarily about in this case getting to mars.....its the countless smaller things they discover on they way that have day to day uses, the old aim for 1000km away...even if you're only half successful you're still 500km further along
