A Political Thread pt. 2

Resident doctors vote for strike action over pay offer. Current government stance not to renegotiate as they can't be anymore generous than they have been.

I expect the RCN will follow.
Honestly, I think this sums up the problem in the UK. Even if the economy does grow, the money mainly goes to private businesses and shareholders. Yes the government is right that there is no more money, but public workers are also right they deserve a fair pay rise. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that the cost of running the country continually outstrip any increase in revenue the government makes. While cutting waste and inefficiency could help, it would only be a temporary solution as wealth continues to be consolidated in the hands of the few.

Compensation is all well and good but where is the justice? This was not by accident, someone knew about it and said nothing.
Knew is a strong term and hard to prove. Ignoring the potential for the fault and not properly investigating yes absolutely and corporate types making those decisions should absolutely be held responsible.

The fact that this went on for so long someone knew something. I'd also say willful ignorance is no excuse either. Manslaughter is still a crime even if you didn't mean it. Those in charge ruined lives because they either intentionally knew the truth and did nothing or they intentionally ignored facts because they would cause a problem.

I'm sure there's a word for the forcible involuntary displacement movement of populations from one location to another - I just can't quite think what it would be without implying some sort of war crime - which, of course, the "most moral army in the world" would never stoop to.
I'm also pretty sure there's generally another word that's used when you set up a camp, and concentrate a large number of enemies there and don't allow them to leave. I'm not sure it's a "humanitarian city" though. Again, I'm having difficulty in finding what word to use without implying something negative about the state of Israel.

FTR, of course, Hamas = bad

Concentration camp or Ghetto. There you go.

So it appears Trans Alliance have nominated a slate of trans people and allies for a number of influential positions, in the attempt to 'put trans people in decision making roles'.

Including a trans woman for Womens officer.

The counter group LGB is opposed to this. LGB have quite cleverly in my opinion, branded this move a man's right s movement, citing the cancellation of the Womens Conference as a man's rights victory lol.

Labour are about to start the in fighting again, I wonder how far up this will go?

Horrifically out of touch people to get more power over people. 🤦‍♂️

I mean, noone pushed back when it was used for 'far right' convictions regarding the riots last year. It was always going to set a dangerous precedent, but people enjoyed who it was being used against.

When jury's were used, especially in the case of social media posts, they saw the entire story and kept finding people not guilty which was inconvenient.

firstly it will be a negotiated strategy, like we will concede more cases to caution, than conviction, if you allow us to try bribery and fraud without jury's....

Then will be, 'but the backlog is so long, we are under threat of collapse, we just need to add theft and computer misuse crimes, you know, those pesky crackheads and Poee doe files'

And finally, 'well look, more than half of convictions are jury less, why not just save us all time and money and get rid of it'

Concentration camp or Ghetto. There you go.
No, no, we can't imply anything negative about the state of Israel - that would be anti-Semitic after all.
That's why this can't possibly be a concentration camp, or ghetto, or ethnic cleansing, or anything like that. To accuse Israel of setting up a concentration camp or ethnic cleansing is racially insensitive and actively bigoted - far worse than erm... actually doing so... Intent matters, merely forcibly removing an entire population and forcing them into a ghetto-prison isn't ethnic cleansing or concentration camp if you do it by accident, and use a different name...
Havent you read anything WE had written in the last 2 years.

Oh, and you didn't say that you disapprove of Hamas in that one post, so you're obviously a supporter or terrorism and terrorists (NB Israelis cannot be terrorists just because they take pot shots at random civilians, they don't intend to indiscriminately, murder or displace people, so it can't be terrorism, it... settling, that's it.. settling. Any fear that Palestinians have of any Israelis is entirely irrational...)

West Bank 2: electric boogaloo?
I’m talking about moving them into Isreal. It would alleviate the fear of Hamas shooting people for trying to flee, it solves the problem of Egypt and other countries not taking them and it would alleviate the understandable fears that ordinary Palestinians have that if they leave they won’t be allowed back.

I don't give it a damn what its actually labeled. The IDF under the orders of the Elected Israeli government are clearly doing acts the average man on the street would consider abhorrent in Gaza beyond normal war engagement.

Most would at least consider them war crimes.

We shouldn't be supporting them.

In fairness, Egypt are well within their rights to refuse to accept Palestinians after their Prime Minister warned Netanyahu about the impending Hamas attack before Oct 7th which he chose to ignore.
