Don't you think seeing Ukraine keep its sovereignty holds any strategic value at all?
Sure it hold strategic value. But it’s a European problem first and foremost. You’ve had 3 years to increase military production and failed to do so.

The European leadership love to talk talk talk, and then sit around waiting for their next press conference.

Go send in British troops to repeal the latest wave. If this is an existential threat to Europe, start acting like it.

What more should we do @Ddanno?

Send more money? Send more weapons? Increased sanctions on Russia? Increased sanctions on countries who buy Russian oil?

Tell me, in very specific terms, what EXACTLY would you like us to do to help the Ukrainians?

We've sent advanced weaponry to Ukraine. We've sanctioned India to buying Russian gas. That's just the last few weeks.
No you have sent cold war cast offs and stuff that's about to expire it's shelf life and used the funds in the aid packages to re-equip your military with brand new stuff.

Interesting, im not sure what to think of the Alaska meeting yet, Putin travels to meet Trump, and as of yet we know very little outside of there being no major breakthrough.

The call for aggression from Trump is flat out stupidity, Putin has responded to a meet by agreeing, and again reiterates had Trump been in power the invasion might not have gone ahead. Also Putin breaking into English is a real rarity.

But then those who hate Trump will criticise him scratching his butt as a nazi dog whistle, and those who love him will view the scratch as a patriotic salute... all I know is that both these types of people are wrong.
I’ve read a bit of analysis/reporting.

Consensus to me is we know what we knew last week: The Russians are in a strong and strengthening position. The Russian war economy is resilient. Russia has lost a 1,000,000 soldiers and shows zero signs of discontent at home.

It’s going to take two things to end this conflict.

1.) Major concessions from Ukraine and NATO.

2.) Escalation on the part of Europeans and Americans. Troops. Money. Weapons. The whole nine yards.

This is factually untrue.

And secondly, even if it were true, why doesn’t Europe send more advanced equipment?

If we are sending Ukrainians junk, why don’t you send your high-tech gear to help compensate.

To a degree. The only way it goes back to pre-war borders is force. That would involve Europe in a war. That's going to be a problem as not all of Europe has the heart for it.

One of the major problems of Europe. Take the big three out of it. Spain, Italy, Portugal etc have little interest.

Yeah not a tough guy like you eh?

Several countries, including the UK, have said that weapons donated to Ukraine could be used, in self-defence, to strike legitimate military targets inside Russia. To date, those permissions have not extended to the use of Western-supplied long-range missiles against targets deeper in Russian territory. That operational caveat has, however, been under review.

@Ddanno @Saintjay @McTallshort

Why isn’t your government giving Ukrainians the advanced military equipment they need?

Thank you! A pragmatic and honest response.

I will promise you one thing: Zero troops will ever be on the ground in Ukraine. Zero.

It will be your boots on the ground or no boots.

Choose what are willing to sacrifice. Because over here, the interest in continuing this is falling by the day.

But isn’t Israel a Middle East problem then?

Money, fear of escalation, not wanting to be the one to do it all. As others have done with Nato, some nations are happy to do little and let others take up the slack.

Trumps point of Nato and some countries defence spending was correct.

Part of the problem is Trump is viewed here as being scared of Putin and subservient to him. When we the UK are one of your strongest allies watching you pick fights with everyone but the US is scared of the real bully in the room
