Thats just a single person, im talking culture wise...

Europe has drifted from the USA from what I see, not the other way around.

Oh, I was focussing more on political class.

Still, we're normally a couple of years behind a lot of American culture in general anyways. We've got our own Trump babies over here. We're pretty divided just as they are. There's clear cultural differences sure but most American and Brits I would say are still classical liberals (believe in equality, free press/speech, capitalism etc)

Not for me. America has always had slightly different free speech from Europe. They're essentially the same it's just that in America it's your god damn constitutional right to be a racist and say whatever you want pretty much. We have had "hate speech" laws for quite a while now.

I would put back to you that our free press is looking a lot more free than in America though I'm not overly worried about America in that regard. The dominion lawsuits saw a good outcome and showed the system is still working to some degree.

Europe is now Disneyland for Americans to visit their ancestral homes.

The wealth divide since 2008 is startling. The creation of new companies vs forming even larger conglomerates is startling.

In 2000, there were a lot of differences but your average American and average European had a lot of shared cultural values.

That’s gone now. Your average Uk and American millennials are living different lives.

Just like the Mayflower Pilgrims crossing over so that could have the freedom to practice their religion (the only religious freedom denied them in the UK at the time was... The freedom to force their views on others)

Pretty ok, like the US as long as it's not inciting violence, homophobic or racist we can say what the hell we like.

Including things about Starmer, Vance, Trump. Nobody's not getting in the UK for calling Trump a nonce on twitter for example.

I mean, what is 'different' free speech? In the US they can say what they want without threat of arrest from the government, in the UK we can say what we want as long as it doesnt offend, or could be perceived offencive.

Theres a massive ******* chasm of difference there, and I dont think Europe is maintaining that chasm, its certainly been growing for the last 2 decades, to the point children with learning diffs are being arrested for likening police officers to their lesbian nana's, or quoting Winston Churchil.

Think you are confusing hate incident vs crime.

And i don't know any reasonable person who would want the right to say racist things to people's faces. Because that's the arguement in the we the US get to be racist to people and offensive etc. You don't have freespeech because you cant do that.

Swearing in the street still needs the police to show someone was caused harassment, alarm and distress. Goes to court it's always what the person on the Clapham omnibus would think.

As far as I can tell states in the US do have laws on disorderly conduct. I don't think you'd get away with standing outside a synagogue dropping F bombs and telling them to all F off home under freedom of speech.
