USA news & politics

It's so common now everyone just shrugs and goes oh another school shooting. Guess we'll wait for the next one.

It's all just very sad.
I think they just see it like car fatalities. You need a car to go to work or a bus to take your kids to school and that can sometimes lead to crashes and deaths but you don't ban cars or buses. I need a gun for protecting my family (and in case I need to overthrow the government) and the odd nutter going and shooting up a school is a price worth paying.

It's kinda unsolvable now. You can make improvements but America is ******* huge and there's a lot of guns. Anything short of a complete culture shift (which isn't happening) and you won't see any change.

The UK managed a decent shift after Dunblaine.

You're right though, they don't give a **** about their kids being murdered. They're collateral damage. This is the 286th mass shooting this year - more than one a day.

Background checks? Gun registration?

Like having a national database of criminals to restrict ownership to them?

Adding a state level background enforcement?

A petition movement to restrict ownership of individuals?

Closing the gun show loophole on private sales?

Monitoring on 3d printing of weaponry?

Restrictions on carrying guns between states?

I cant thinknof much more off the top of my head, anything else?

Didn't realise the shooter was allegedly trans. Republicans already pointing the finger at this as the cause under 'mental illness".
A rapper once said

“If he’s white you give him a chance he’s ill and confused if he’s black he’s probably armed you seem him and shoot”

And the other 285 mass shootings?
The mass shooting thing is potentially a bit misleading. My understanding is that a mass shooting is any incident where 3 or more people have been shot which covers loads of gang shootings. Now that's fine if you (not you personally) know that but I think most people think school shootings when they hear "mass shootings"

Being in a gang isn't a form of sexuality.

If politicians are going to use race, sexuality or any other labels when talking about shooters, rapists or whatever then let's agree what these are and use them consistently.
Just a point of order gender identity and sexuality are two separate spectrums.

I wouldn't be surprised if being trans was part of the reasoning but more likely under "not enough support and care".

School shootings is also misleading, within i think 400m of school property adds to the stats.

When you look at on school property deaths due to a gun, i think it is down the list risk profiles wise, compared to accidents, school buses, and medical conditions.
