USA news & politics

Dude Ive voted for actual boring dad centrists (Cameron being the closest on Tory side but I voted Cleggs party in that election)....I dont pretend theres a both sides argument at the actual extremes like you do. I never held much truck for Corbyn either.

I'm just pretty socially liberal so dont vote for arseholes. Economically Im just right of Corbyn and left of Starmer...thats a bigger gulf than it should with current economic rules...

Where's the extreme that I both sides?

Do you believe in absolutes?

I just subscribe to the philosophy that there are 3 sides to any story, opposing claims with the truth somewhere in between.

Take this Reform NL story, I cant accept the allegations made by a journalists, of their side of a story, and hysteria based off theirnside of the story, without at least hearing the opposing side, and finding context.

Fahy and Pridmore have history of being overly critical to Reform, have instigated conflict with Reform and Anderson in the past, Fahy has goaded Barton in social media, and both have a history of instigating conflict with agencies like the police locally.

If you want to accept their side of thebstory as gospel, ignore their own conflicting quotes on Reforms duty to engage fully with them, and ignore further context than you are more than willing to do so...

But I cant, id rather be informed fully before commenting on situations.

I honestly cant understand, why any honest person (not just you) would repeatedly try to dismiss this stance as contrarian, both siding, or get annoyed by it?

I dont want to target anyone specifically, my views on politicians are pretty well known, I vehemently dislike them all, some are slightly less bad than others, but thats about it...

But im bored of hearing Dems good, this new situation is unprecedented, Republicans are aiming for authoritarianism, like they arent all at the same game, the same grift.

Its a big club and none of us are in it!
I know this is going to sound mean but this is such a child like take. Like the thing I thought when I was 16 smoking weed.

It's just so very simplistic. It lacks, what's the word……nuance. 😉

I mean it doesnt, I have a disdain for politicians, the types of people who want to go into politics, and what they become with a bit of power...

But im willing to hold your favourite politicians up to the scrutiny of the standard principles of holding public office, and we can see how likeable they are.

BTW, me disliking them doesnt mean i cant recognise talent, efficiency, acts of courage etc..

I dispose AOC, but at least she stands for something, and has a message outside of Orange man bad, a lot of Democrats dont.

I mean, politicians are human like the rest of us.

I like AOC but it tends to be the ideologues you want to watch out for.

They are, but not all humans are created equal. Those who want to lead, have notoriety and make decisions for thebrest of us are usually not the types you want.

So let's go through some, who do you like?

Definitely going to get appealed up to the Supreme Court, then see if they are consistent with their own previous rulings (that the president and executive cannot simply acquire more powers by default ie with environmental regulations) or if they will bend over and let Trump do what he wants despite there being exactly zero legal justification.

I agree, I’ve said as much on this forum re ideally you’d want people who don’t seek power in positions of power but then it’s not like that is it.

What’s the point of the question?

If disliking politicians as a default setting is 16 year old simpleton thinking, let's go through a couple of examples, see where they excel on the Nolan principles...

I suspect anyone you name would fall short, and we would probably fall back to a default position.
