USA news & politics

Because unfortunately Trump has seen fit to put him in a position where he can change national policy based on his moronic views. It makes him difficult to ignore.
And when 77m American re-elect a clown to be their POTUS 🤡 then expect him to elect other clowns such as RFK Jnr 🤡 to help run his circus. 🎪

Is there a Republican, real or just Trump crony, that you like?
Is there a politician you like?

No I'm yet to see someone involved in either Trump administration I liked. There are policies I could agree with but I find the people on balance I don't. However what has my liking of them got to do with my statement? You wish to argue RFK isn't moronic when it comes to matters of healthcare?

You know there isnt hahaha

I dont want to argue on RFKs behalf, I dont like him, or hate him, but i also dont think hes a moron, he was pretty universally liked as an independent, the vitriol only really started when he joined Trump, and I dont think those who have theories that are unpopular are necessarily wrong. I think COVID taught a lot of people some humility in this area.

I just find it interesting that every person you disagree with is a moron, authoritarian or extremist, and I wondered if you considered any of them well intentioned, or at least good at their jobs?

Before it gets posted, Florida banning mandatory vaccines is dumb as hell and I completely disagree with this approach.

To be fair, Florida is a state I’ve never particularly enjoyed traveling to and I find the people overall slightly trashy.

Granted, there are parts of Miami that I absolutely love. But Florida is very much an acquired taste.

Slightly trashy, seriously try Rhyl on a Friday night it's like one big pool of trashy goodness.

That's a massive misrepresentation, RFK was routinely mocked for his anti-vaccine views long before he entered the administration, it's why people said he was a poor choice from day 1. We KNOW what RFK claims is wrong. He's a full up believer of the vaccines cause autism bullshit. There is no 2 ways about that, it is straight up wrong and he is using that, along with his other anti-vaccine views to sabotage the US vaccine programme. Hell the guy literally fired the entire vaccine board and removed tons of federal medical grants at the stroke of a pen. He has also gutted the federal body for monitoring and controlling infectious diseases and has had multiple, long term high positions resignations because of his actions. You want to dismiss all that as normal and somehow not moronic?

No not everyone I disagree with is a moron, authoritarian or extremist but a lot of those sorts of people are coming to the fore at the moment. You wish to claim we are in an era of politics as usual...? Do we really have to go through this whole process all over again where I have to show how out of the ordinary what Trump is doing and you dismiss it all because "they are all the same"?

The dislike of RFK has risen because he is now using his position to push a harmful agenda based on his own massive ignorance in medicine. The guy is not a doctor, he's not an immunologist, he's not a dietician, he has zero background in the thing he now controls nationally and is actively undermining those who do have a background in it. What would you call that?

HHS employees demand RFK Jr. resign for ‘compromising the health of this nation’

Harvard wins landmark victory over Trump administration

Federal judge said Trump used antisemitism as a 'smokescreen' to attack the university and freeze over $2 billion in federal funding

Funny how right wing news is failing to report on this or putting it so far down the page most people won't get to it

I'm old enough to remember what the effects of polio are. I went to primary school with someone struggling with the after effects of polio. He had leg braces which forced him to "stump" around.

It was unpleasant to see and I'm sure unpleasant to live with.

In later school there was a boy with one leg who it was said he lost due to polio. Nobody ever asked him because noone really wanted to know the truth.

I was talking to my dad about this during COVID, he was born in 1947 and said Polio was an absolute killer. The fact this is being done for overzealous religious reasons is absolutely ******* stupid

As usual, the administration will try to get it to the supreme court and rely on their corruption to rule in their favour.

I mean its not, he was the most popular independent since what 1990, noone polled above 8% before he polled at what 18% in 2024. Thats some level of popularity for an independent, he was also appealing to a youthful audience on social media, and this despite his views on vaccines.

Is someone with no formal medical training becoming the head of the health and human serviceces unprecedented? In fact I can only think of one off the top of my head, Price, the rest are all from law and public office backgrounds from what im aware.

Is what RFK done with the vaccine commity legal? I get why it stinks, and im not on board with him in general about vaccines, but we've just been through an extremely dangerous time with regards to how medical science and vaccines (new and revised definition) were weaponised against the population for the greater good, im not against some skepticism in this regard.

But again, its like you started paying attention to American politics in 2016, with a view of the world is ending because of Trump, every president makes contraversial picks, every president extends power, and every president is touted as the guy who will start the downfall of the USA...

When the next Dem president comes along and Republicans are crying about it being the end of the USA etc, you'll be where I am now laughing at their claims, I promise you.
