USA news & politics

So apparently the recent zelensky visit to the Whitehouse again resulted in the trump administration parroting Kremlin talking points.

Amazing how they consistently demand zelensky give in to all of Putin's demands but the promised consequences for Putin still haven't materialised.

Putin has something on trump, there's no other explanation for why he is so willing to do his bidding.

I wouldn’t rule it out but I think it’s more likely that Trump is a moron and can’t think about things longer than a day away so just makes it up as he goes along and whatever mood he finds himself in at that time. He’ll probably shift back to being pro Ukraine soon and the hardcore MAGA will say it’s 4D chess.

Chaps,

It’s been real, but I’m out of here. Lots of back and forth on here, but no longer meaningful discussions.

See you on the other side.

You'd think there would be others in the administration interested in keeping him focused on the point that Putin is the aggressor here and the one the USA should be opposing.

He's either corrupt or he's an idiot who is easily swayed by Putin and surrounded by cowards too afraid to ever go against his latest impulse. Either way, he's wholly unfit for office and surrounded by the same.

Yeah it would be funny if it wasn’t so serious. Sadly any sane republican has long gone and the only people that surround him now are the cultists.

Having said that, it’s only a few more years and while Trump has worryingly learned a lot from his past mistakes and surrounded himself with more “loyal” people, I think America will come out of this alright. How much damage will be done in the short term (and long term as well to be fair- which is more worrying) is the concern.

I still find it telling that the people he keeps sending to negotiate peace deals are real estate moguls (including his son in law) as opposed to diplomats. Why isn't Marco Rubio leading these talks? It's his job as America's top diplomat.

It's quite possible that Witkoff and Kushner are good negotiators and have done a good job but it really wouldn't surprise me if real estate deals form a big part of the agenda which is why Rubio is being kept away from it. Either that or Putin has dirt on him including a hacked copy of those elusive files.

I think your underestimating the legacy Trump may well leave behind....

A generation of Vance type Republicans, maybe some more charismatic, and determined, with the ability to win election after election....

Thats my concern, the fact that his supporters has grown over and over, and as a response the villification has become more and more vitriolic, I genuinely think the Democrats might as well write off the next 2 elections. Newsome doesnt stand a chance against the likes of Gabbard in 28.

Maybe. It will certainly be interesting to see what the political landscape is like after he goes.

I dont think it changes, hes shown the Republicans how to win. Essentially be Barrack obama, unapologetically Barrack O Bama for 2010, implement his policies, laugh at the bullshit lobbed at you...

As long as Republicans pick squeaky clean candidates they will be favourites to win for a long time

So when you think of Obama you think Trump? I don’t think I quite understand.
