Can't say he'd doing nothing, this 1 big policy a day is a great way of communicating the rollout as well.

End rough sleeping is one of those things that sounds great but isnt possible, most charoties and local authorities survive off manipulating figures to show how theyve reduced it, while numbers go up lol.

Could really do with him sticking to his original claim of raising the tax free threshold. Every £4 it's raised is an extra £1 you don't have to pay in tax.

Bump the threshold up by £200 or £400 and that's an extra £50 - £100 per month for most people, who will definitely feel that.

Only thing is it blows a hole in the budget that would need addressing, and not through simply taxing people another way.

Maybe I'm hesitant to jump on the Burmham band wagon after Labour basically crowned someone who wasn't even elected at the last GE, but it all sounds very headliney without huge substance.

The energy bills is quite possibly unfunded as of now.

Blanket cap on bus seems a bit arbitrary to be practical, but haven't looked into the specifics.
Rates relief is a drop in the ocean.

None of it is long term policy, it's stop gaps that may actually hurt long term if the government has to make cuts elsewhere.

Eurgh yeah bit of an oversight. However raising the tax free threshold is the most equal way to improve most people's finances. Constantly squeezing the middle to find the poorest whilst having the rich fudge their taxes isn't helping anything.

The alternative is we just keep raising taxes more and more and more on those in the middle, because it never hits those at the top or bottom.

I dont think print or even news comes anywhere near digital or social media these days, the cycle doesnt really exist, and chinks in the armour days after taking office can really hurt. The measure of Burnham isnt going to be keeping news positive for a week, its going to be how he responds to the inevitable, and thats where Starmer failed in reality, he politicked too close to the sun

Yep it's the overall view numbers, many fewer will have seen the page you linked to, far fewer than watched BBC, ITV, Sky etc so today's overwhelming media message is a good one.
If it pans out as I expect, GE is no longer an issue. How would you sell it to whatserface from Swindon or wherever when all she's seen is good news.

I get that. I'm just not getting too excited yet over some crowd pleasing headlines. Not saying it's wrong of him, but it also doesn't mean he's now doing an incredible job already and unless he's planned these properly, they could come back to bite him.
