Wales fly-half Rhys Priestland will miss the Six Nations Championship with a ruptured left Achilles tendon.

So Wales injury list now tolls ...

  • Aaron Jarvis - prop
  • Adam Jones - prop
  • Craig Mitchell - prop
  • Rhodri Jones - prop
  • Samson Lee - prop
  • Huw Bennett - hooker
  • Richard Hibbard - hooker
  • Alun Wyn Jones - lock
  • Bradley Davies - lock
  • Ian Evans - lock
  • Luke Charteris - lock
  • Dan Lydiate - flanker
  • Josh Turnbull - flanker
  • Aaron Shingler - flanker
  • Jamie Roberts - centre
  • Rhys Priestland - fly-half
  • George North - wing
  • Leigh Halfpenny - full-back

"setback" or blessing in disguise?

Not that I'm pleased about injuries to anyone, but Hook/Biggar/Patchell (hmm... potentially) now have a good shot of making the shirt theirs. (Biggar for me.)

All except Priestlabd should be back for the Six Nations.
No chance Bennett will play for Wales while in Lyon.

Patchell for Wales already?
Only because who else, assuming Wales have 3 flyhalves for the 6N? Even if he doesn't play a part, would be good for his development.

tbf, I forgot about Henson. If fit and in-form, he could be a shout. (Would prefer him to have a full season of rugby though, let him settle at his club and stay out the limelight for a while, and call him up if there's an injury.)

I can see your reasoning and agree to some extent, but I worry about thrusting players into the spotlight when they aren't physically/mentally prepared.
I like Patchell and think he has a bright future ahead of himself. How about Shingler?
