A Political Thread pt. 2

Seems a bit complex. Personally I'd prefer the Commons stayed for constituencies but with the Alternative Vote (what was proposed in the referendum) and the Lords is binned off and replaced with a straight up national PR chamber.

In addition I'm in favour of greater devolution with England being split into regions each with their own funding.
Not that complicated, and you still get your constituency MP, they "just" cover a larger population.

IMO the lords should be a house of expertise and as apolitical as you can make it (which won't be very, but still)

Just done my postal vote,
Got a feeling it's gonna go reform round here - they've been canvassing HARD, multiple leaflets/letters, couple of people door knocking etc.
Seen the conservative candidate post in the local Facebook group once, not heard a peep from Labour or Green

Not received mine yet

To call these right, or right leaning, or even sympathetic shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the climate, they are none of these things, they are merely lost by the 'left' who have shifted and made huge swathes of voters homeless.

I would implore you to go and figure out why these hugely popular people who were life long Dems, Bernie fans, and advocates are now understanding why Trump makes sense,
Are they politically homeless or not?

He only said right leaning.

Trump says Russia offered a "pretty big concession" by not "taking the whole country" of Ukraine

President Donald Trump said today that Russia has offered a significant concession in peace talks with Ukraine by not "taking the whole country."

Responding to a reporter question about what Russia was offering in peace talks, Trump responded: "Stopping the war."

"Stop taking the whole country, pretty big concession," Trump added during an Oval Office meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was widely denounced by other countries for invading Ukraine in February 2022, and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has sharply pushed back on even formally recognizing Russian control over the region of Crimea.

Earlier in the week, Trump suggested Zelensky was holding up negotiations, saying the embattled leader has "no cards." And after voicing displeasure at the deadly overnight Russian strikes on Kyiv, Trump said today he still believes Putin is serious about a peace deal.

Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy sharply disagreed with that characterization, saying in a post on X that: "Putin doesn't want peace. He's stalled every negotiation and keeps bombing civilians."

I can't believe he said that.

I mean, he called Zelenskyy a dictator and said he started the war so it's hardly surprising at this point. I know what you mean though, just messed up isn't it.

Just have to be wary of novichok on your door handles or umbrella administered enemas instead.
