A Political Thread pt. 2

Labour still paying the price for their pre-election no tax rises pledge which they didn't need to do considering how desperate people were to turf out the Tories. They'd still have won comfortably even with a low/modest income tax increase. The Tories were being fiscally irresponsible by promising tax cuts the country couldn't afford and Labour got sucked in.
I agree but u-turning on the WFA and now this has put a hole in Reeves plans. She's also partly at fault for being so strict on her rules and her headroom figures.

She's making no savings on benefits at all now according to some

Yeah fair but the Chief Whip has had a stinker also tbf. Starmer also has to shoulder some responsibility.

I've no idea if this is a personal matter, or shes just having some sort of break. It's been a long year, shes been dragged from pillar to post, and shes crashing the economy while trying to harm the poor...

Give her a holiday, or at least someone have the common decency to send her for a break before she melts down at PMQ's.

Starmer is coming across as someone who works in finance. As in, he understands the paperwork, but knows nothing about the human element or how his actions hurt others.

Small sample, but not a single person I know that voted Labour will vote for them again and they've been saying that for quite some time.

I keep feeling this is an inevitably as someone who regularly works long days i feel so much refreshed and productive overall when a weekend is extended by a bank holiday or something.

Absolutely the same. In Poland they also started a pilot program for 4-days or 6-hour daily. Unfortunately my employer refused to participate in it though... feels like I have to look for another job after 7 years on the same place because 4-days is a huge advantage:(

My Mrs works a 4 day week, She's on the same pay band as me. It makes a massive difference for her and a tad smug when I'm off to work on a Monday.

Too be fair as a contractor I tend to smash the job out Mon-Thurs and head home Thursday night. If I have to be on site Friday then I just take it easy during the week.

It's incredible that some employers still think flogging a dead horse increases productivity. Good working conditions and a happy workforce should always lead to better productivity.
I've noticed it's getting worse and worse in the sector I'm working for example. My employer is not even the worst, I've heard JP Morgan (office in Warsaw) just made 100% office work and completely removed home office....we have 60% home office, but will move to 50% next year. Also, they're cutting benefits for employees step by step. It also strongly impacts atmosphere among employees..I even started to think to change the field of work (and I was pretty happy with my work all last years)

Thats why when I got the chance 5 years ago I went self employed. COVID was tough but otherwise it's been the best thing I have ever done. I'm not reliant on the whims of management team, don't get stuck in workplace politics, only make a profit for myself and have a great work life balance, ok there is no job "security" but there isn't much anyway and no paid holidays but if I had to go back to being employed it would be with a very very heavy heart
