A Political Thread pt. 2

Why do you think the partition of India ended relatively quickly (after 20 million people were displaced and a million killed) but Israel is still fighting for its existence 70 odd years later?
It's not fighting for it's existence at all. It's the major regional power with a massive backer in Washington. That's why it feels embodied to behave the way it currently does. Your level of mental gymnastics to justify what's going on in Palestine never fails to amaze me

Well, they are literally fighting enemies that want it wiped off the map. But I also mean it fights for its existence in a battle of ideas way as there is still, to this day, such a prevalent idea that Israel does not have the right to exist. And even among people that do they do so very begrudgingly that they would never dream of doing with Pakistan

I'm speaking in general terms as I know no one on here denies Israel's right to exist but you have to admit it's a very common idea amongst many people on the left still.

Maybe if Pakistan was surrounded by countries that refused to take in displaced people and wanted Pakistan wiped off the map we would see similar outcomes but the fact of the matter is we didn't see that with the partition of india but with Hamas' Russian fuelled propaganda machine everyone in the west is very up to date with the "history" of the Israel Palestine conflict.

Who said it doesn't have the right to exist? They are the ones denying the Palestinians the right to exist

When Israel recognises Palestine's right to be an independent state we can have a chat. Currently its one country making actual inroads to wiping the other of the map. And it isn't the aggressors around Israel.
To be fair, Israel recognised Palestine to have a state when Israel was formed in 48 but the Arabs rejected it and decided to invade Israel and it's been a **** show ever since.

Hamas and the Palestinians definitely say Israel has no right to exist and would see it eliminated given the chance.

I'm no fan of Israel but let's not pretend that if the level of military capability was reversed that Israel's Arab neighbours wouldn't have tried to completely flatten Israel.

Just enough for what? To give Israel the excuse to carry out ethnic cleansing and steal land
Enough to try to act on it. Do you think all Germans supported the Nazis? Can you think of a single case in history in which all of a populace supported an action?

Do you believe that if the military capabilities were reversed, Israel's Arab neighbours wouldn't have tried to destroy Israel?

Bullshit. Most countries in the region are allied to Israel and those that aren't are too weak to do much about it.
I was being a bit tongue in cheek by saying everyone to be fair. I would say in general the populations of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan are not overly supportive of a state of Israel. Palestinians have been used by other Arab countries as a pawn in a sick game of chess over the last 70 odd years.

Hey my view is simple. Let Palestine as a functioning independent state. Then when they invade Israel, Israel can fight back.
This is what has happened before but when it has everyone still blames Israel. lol.

By the way I agree even though 2 states looks hopeless and unworkable to be honest.

They tried and failed. Now they are mostly allies thanks to diplomacy and if you lived in Gaza or the west bank how would you feel about Israel?

Exactly, they tried. And I ask again, had they had the capability to try and succeed originally, do you think Israel would exist now?

If Palestine had the ability to wipe out Israel, do you think they would take it out so you think they'd let Israel survive?

No one blames Israel for the October attacks so ******* grow up. What people do object to is the current invasion and distuction of Gaza, the systematic starvation of its population while at the same time illegally grabbing land in the West Bank.
