Could be wrong but my understanding is that positive discrimination is illegal under the equalities act for employment. Action is not.
I am not overly fussed at who's in adverts but rejecting job candidates due to skin colour or sex is wrong l. No matter what colour or sex you are.

I don't think that actually happens though does it? Just an effort is made to make sure applications from minorities are interviewed rather than dismissed. This is due to the past they'd rejected more overall.
I mean your example is people screwing up and acting illegally 19 years ago. Also in a job are where the force representing the community is known to be incredibly important and probably a lot more nuanced that outright rejeceting.
But again the topic at hand is about TV advert representation.
Correct but it's called a conversation. I was replying to someone who raised the issue of positive action / discrimination against white people. With an example of when it happens, more recently the Raf did the same if you prefer more recent examples.

Sorry but the debate is not just about minorities in adverts. It may not have been explicitly said at the time but minorities in adverts is actually 1 part of a bigger point reform and the like are tapping into.
Whether you agree with the perception or not, there is a feeling of double standards in this country against the majority. Why do you think 2 tier kier caught on so quickly? Can you think of the last time racist comments by a member of a minority against the majority made the news?

It's adverts, who gives a flying ****. Adverts come on, then I browse my phone. Have everyone replaced with smurfs for all I care. This is just another dog whistle to rile up the fuckwits.

Israel back to launching strikes in Gaza, they were just itching for the tiniest reason to restart. Hamas returning every single body after the majority of the country was completely flattened was something that, even with the best will in the world, everyone knew they had no hope of doing. The whole thing was set up to fail.
Israel also apparently dropped a grenade from a drone and had a tank fire at UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, after a different drone was shot down for flying too close to the UN peacekeeping force.

its intersting you dont mention the attacks on Isreali troops or the fake remains sent to Isreal as provocation for breaking the terms of the ceasefire.

I heard one expert on Sky say that there was no good reason to keep blocking western journos from reporting in Gaza after the ceasefire had started given there would be time to get them out should things kick off again. Looks like one side still doesn't want any independent fact checking going on that might reveal who is at fault. The aid trucks have also been blocked repeatedly since the ceasefire started.
I'm glad the living Israeli hostages were freed but it looks to me like this was a phony ceasefire designed to let Trump get his lap of honour in Egypt in his quest to land the peace prize and that normal service has now resumed.

Did Hamas stop attacks at any point? Did they return all the hostage bodies they agreed to?
Makes me wonder why anyone takes anything at Israel says at face value (except for one particular person)
They've been proven liars in the past and near enough anything they say should be taken with a pinch of salt.
