Sale Sharks, England and British Lions International Andrew Sheridan has ended speculation about his future by extending his existing contract to stay at Sale Sharks for a further season.

Andrew joined Sale Sharks from Bristol Shoguns in 2003 and has played 100 games for the club. He made the first of his 36 England appearances v Canada in 2004. He played in the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final and also toured with the British Lions in 2005 and 2009. He is renowned for his destructive scrummaging displays and powerful ball carrying in the loose.

CEO Mick Hogan said,

“This is a massive statement of intent by the club and Andrew. Steve Diamond signed Sherri back in 2003 and once Andrew knew about Steve’s return, he was delighted to put pen to paper. Inevitably there was a lot of interest in his signature and I do know that he has turned down some big offers from a number of other clubs. He is one of the best prop forwards in the world and we are thrilled he has made this commitment to stay with us.â€

Steve Diamond speaking from New Zealand said, “ I am very pleased Andrew has re-signed for the club. I remember watching him develop as a player and knew he was going to be one of the best as his career progressed. I have followed his progress with interest and am looking to build a team around Sherri and Mark Cueto who has also been a loyal servant to the club down the years.â€

While I'm glad he's signed, because as Diamond said, he's been at Sale for a while, and is a decent enough player, if he'd've left it'd free up a chunk of salary cap, and we've already got a fair few props (8, I think, four of each, including Sheridan)
Would be a shame to see either Lee Imiolek or Eifion Roberts shifted on

Good news all round, reckon Diamond has any effect with this deal Olyy?

Rather anti-climatic.

Imiolek to Leicester, then begins The ABC Club 2: IBC! :p

This is basically a - I had look in France nobody thinks I'm worth money over there so I'll stay with Sale who will give me bucket of gold yeah.

agree he had a look around in France, wether that was genuine or just to try and put him in a better position when it came to renegotiate with Sale, would doubt he will stick around if they get relegated which is probably unlikely despite the doomsayers. Big name in the game and definately an assett to the club
