Argentinian Rugby

Edit:

A ver, yo no me enojo tanto. Segundo: no me parece grave.

Yo veo a Japon...
Algo hicimos mal.

Ves, aca tenes razon.

[QUOTE = "Horacito, post: 965105, member: 71745"] Let's see, I don't get so angry. First: it was obvious that it would be like that. Second: I don't think it's serious. Nothing was thrown four years, we just played the final of the SR and won the cup that South African for 90 points. The idea of the English that we are a third-party team makes sense: they scored 40 points.

The issue of pumas is serious and has little to do with specific errors: the team has been destroying four years. Point. That is something that Ledesma evidently failed to manage and that has cost the team a world cup. Then blur and cuena new, the question is if they take Ledesma to put Quesada. That seems to me a mistake. I would give Ledesma at least one more year to take charge of the situation and see what he does.

Regards! [/ QUOTE]

I don't think it's much to brag about that you won the Currie Cup first division championship.

But it is definitely a big accomplishment that the Jags got to the SR final.

But here is my question to all of you Argentine members. Do you now see what we meant when we said your players aren't resting enough during SR? The rotation policy which SA, Aus and NZ are using is working. Plus we meant it when we said that the SR isn't such an important thing during a WC year.

It's not that we wanted to discredit the Jags performance, it's that we know the WC is more important, and that we've gone through this cycle before. Whereas this was your first time being involved in a WC and a SR tournament.

I agree with you about the currie cup, but I don't buy the rest of your argument H.
I could buy it on a non-world cup year to explain our performance during the mid-year and end of year internationals. But not on a world cup year.

The first thing that came to mind when i read your post was Japan. They are the closest comparable and although they don't have to play TRC that should fade out given the time we had between TRC (short version this year) and the WC.
They are performing. We are not.

The more i think about it the more clear it becomes. All of this, ALL OF THIS MESS, would be a non-issue if 4/5 players would have left the locker room focussed on the first game. Hell, not even on the game, just the first half.
That's it. We can sugar coat it the way we want, twist it, turn it around, the lot, but had we won the first game everything else would have been thrown under the table. Ledesma would have accomplished his goal and we would be "ok". Simple as that.

It is true that such a mess exposed other problems/issues, but there's no way around it. Those 30 minutes were devastating.

It was not physical thing , it was all mental and tactics. Maybe resting more would have help with the mental aspect? Perhaps but no tackling against France or changing the way you play also leaving key players out and bringing untested players.

Players are to blame for sure but coaches too. I would love to see a NZ coach in here.

btw: Jags loses several key players. Next year we wont make it pass group stage. Mark this post haha

Well the physical issue is a consecuence of, in my opinion, one of our main problem: our selection policy. If you have an small pool players to select then you have to play them the SR, the RC and the WC... For instance, Matera played with an injury....

That said, there were another problems, even taking the preliminar list of Ledesma the players who went were not the most fit. Moyano, even Delguy were not plenty recovered. We have a discussion about wings here, it was a matter of taste but then taking the circumtances take those who are in best shape and with more experience. Carreras missed a try against England (before the capitulation) that I'm sure that Cordero or Imhoff would have scored, not critizicing him but there are situations that are matter of caps.
Then the fly half decisions were just ridiculous, no words for the selection during the most important game of last years. This is responsabilty of the HC, summed to leaving Bonilla and Mioti out of the list, with the current level of Sanchez.
Same with ISA and god knows if we have a test level lock in Europe, not harsh on Lavanini but lord...

Finally, if 10% of the rumours of our camp are true I don't think Ledesma can revert this. If he continues I think he won't reach next WC. Not that I like changing coaches but I think this is irreversible.

you do have some points here. but if you think that we wouldn't be talking about this if bonfellis last kick didn't bend to de left at the end. vs france besides those terrible 20 min's we did pretty good and we could have won it in spite of that. then we would be in the qf. finally lavaninI gave us the last push out ( we where not going to beat england) but who knows..

This I don't understand from your side. The pressure in a World Cup year is a lot higher than other years (maybe the B&I Lions tour). And teams usually play equal amount of games internationally in a World Cup year than any other year, sometimes even more if you include the playoffs and the warm-up matches.

The Super Rugby also started a bit earlier this year than last year, and went uninterrupted, unlike last year.

Okay, let's compare Japan to Argentina. Both had the majority of their players playing Super Rugby that is now at the World Cup.

What's the difference? Japan rested their players for extended periods during the SR. Some players rested for 3-4 weeks inbetween matches. They even had a preparation camp in the middle of SR and the Sunwolves played with non-international players that week(s).

Rest and preparation. That's the difference.

Mental toughness is one of the key issues in preparation. And if you're not mentally up for it, then there really is no point in committing yourself...
